The turbine is the hotside, which is just the regular 10.5 from the 05s.

Incorrect. A turbine housing is a hotside.

"Turbine: A machine for generating rotary mechanical power from the energy of a stream of fluid (such as water, steam, or hot gas). Turbines convert the kinetic energy of fluids to mechanical energy through the principles of impulse and reaction, or a mixture of the two."

It's reasonable to assume that Aux. has a broken turbocharger and not a "blown" hotside -- something I've never heard of.

Stock Evo IX turbochargers can be had from turbochargers.com, Speed Element (uses TC.com), Blouch Turbo, Forced Performance, and your local Mitsubishi dealer.

They do show up on the "For Sale/Wanted" section of this forum from time to time as well. This post should probably be moved into that area with a modified subject including "WTB:" as a prefix.

Pd1, you are correct on that technicality, but after several PMs back and forth, he truly was confused on the difference between the hotside and the coldside, as well as the proper nomenclature for each. I still have not determined why he thinks his turbo is blown, but he at least knows now what part of the IX turbo is superior to the 05 (compressor housing) and 03-04 (compressor housing AND exhaust housing).

I blew out the seals in the turbine so i need a new one....black smoke everywhere. Oh and plus after i took it out to inspect it the wheel is froze. You wil have to excuse me if i don't know the proper terminology for car parts i am a jet fighter mechanic and we call the turbine different names.

If your wheel turbine wheel froze, you will definitely need a new turbo (a whole new assembly).

Why was there black smoke everywhere. Are you sure if was not blue/white? Black smoke indicates burning carbon, while oil burns to blueish/whitish smoke.

If you're in search of a new turbo we have a an OEM JDM IX turbo that we are dropping at cost.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Daniel
