Evo IX BOV question again...

I was wanting to know if Evo owners were able to vent their BOV to atmosphere without any issues? I know on my STI we had to recirculate it but just want to know if I have this option with the Evo.

Thanks.

Why even ask when it doesn't help performance? No, you can't run VTA on the Evo while still equipped with a MAF, and there's no reason to want to...

I just wanted clarification, I wasn't aware that the Evo was MAF. The only Evo I had heard a local shop was VTA so I was just making sure.

You can if you use a blow through setup. I dont know why people get to upset about others wanting to vent BOV's into the atmosphere.....some people like the extra noise factor.....and if they do it right thats cool.........to each his own! BTW, he never mentioned anything about whether it added performance....just whether or not it can be done!

RIght, and going to a blowthrough MAF setup just to vent to atmosphere is an even better way to spend money.

When I said it doesn't work with a MAF-equipped Evo, of course that meant without the blowthrough setup. That requires a lot of money and completely different tuning/setup, so it's really not relevant to the question nor my answer.

Why did you get suspended again? I felt bad for you when you did but You really are a big freaking Jerk. I just can't figure out why you have such a rude hostile attitude to members around here? How about you don't respond to any post/thread unless they specifically say Warrtalon please respond.

I know of at least 5 Evos around my area that are VTA and they have no idle problems or anything like that. So, yes it can be done, it just depends on what BOV you choose and if you are "lucky" or not.

How is he being a jerk? I saw no name calling or anything of that nature. He just answered a question that's been asked a million times with the correct answer.

The EVO IX comes stock with the JDM IX MR BOV and can hold up to ~23lbs of boost reliably and safely. If you are running a non aftermarket turbo and boosting under this amount of max boost allowed, then you should be A OK with your current setup.

We constantly have customers ordering JDM MR BOVs for this reason. Also we readily stock JDM MR BOVs so it is quite convenient for our customers.

thanks,

Daniel

I felt that he was being hostile and somewhat a jerk...this is a forum, a place for me to ask questions and his response was
" Why even ask when it doesn't help performance? No, you can't run VTA on the Evo while still equipped with a MAF, and there's no reason to want to..."

Thats a horrible way to have an approach to a response...

NO, the question was horrible, because it's been asked 1000 times, answered 1000 times, and caused flame fests about 900 times. You could have found the answer in about 10 seconds with a basic search, but you didn't bother. Regardless, the question is useless to begin with, because there is no reason to VTA - absolutely none.

Faust, that means you know 5 people who aren't too bright, sorry.

You just don't notice the issues. You are venting metered air, so the ECU is providing more fuel than air, which can only hurt. Knowingly hurting your car by venting to atmosphere just to make noise when there is absolutely no benefit to doing so is the pure definition of "rice."

You will run rich between shifts, and may have an erratic idle. Some cars vent fine, meaning their idle is fine, while others like to shut off when you got WOT sometimes =( Pretty much a hit or miss with venting, keep it safe and recirculate it unless you like paying for gas.
