Best intake manifold
Hey guys im looking into upgrading my intake manifold and ive been searching and havent found anything thats really compares the pros and cons of diffrent ones. Right now im currently at 510whp so i thinks its the next thing to do.
First off i want one that doesnt hurt the spool to much and will still give it a big gain on topend, obviously the ams one is really nice but is it really worth all the extra money and also wut about getting the stock one ported??
thanks again

Ihave had the Weapon-R intake maniflod on for the last 3 mths now. Car has a louder note to it now. I got mine as a test pilot for a guy over here for roughly 600USD. i gained about 5-10 WHP with my mods. ( 325 whp) but you will get a bigger gain with a bigger turbo. Weapon-R claims 10-50 whp on properly tuned evos. i not sure of their definition of properly tuned. mine is properly tuned and i didnt get that much but the word around is that the higher the HP the better they work.
A few brands i have seen round are
HKS Kansai quite expensive.
Magnus Motorsports aprx $800USD
Weapon-R aprx $700USD
to name a few.
i installed mine myself. took about 4 hours first time round. manifold comes predrilled with all tapped holes , all you need is half a dozen nipples and a lenght of vaccuum hose. hope this helps a little

I'm sure most will give the high rpm gain but you'll loose a lot down low and mid-range and that's something I'm not willing to sacrifice.

I run the AMS VSR Intake with a 65mm throttle body. The AMS intake does not have plumbing for EGR and had to be retro-fitted to accomodate the PCV hosing. Effects of the intake (on a BB 50 trim turbo and pump gas):
- lost 200 rpm spoolup
- gained between 25 and 30 wheel torque across the powerband.

Kansai is a fortune.
TrinaBabe is currently producing a very interesting design. Check that out.
AMS is awfully beefy and its completely evil. They did a great, great job with that. Magnus and BJs are good also but have, in the long run, not really made it up to the big pressure tests.

How can it gain TQ and loose spool ? I would think the 2 would go hand in hand ?
