Best intake manifold

Hey guys im looking into upgrading my intake manifold and ive been searching and havent found anything thats really compares the pros and cons of diffrent ones. Right now im currently at 510whp so i thinks its the next thing to do.

First off i want one that doesnt hurt the spool to much and will still give it a big gain on topend, obviously the ams one is really nice but is it really worth all the extra money and also wut about getting the stock one ported??

thanks again

do you want one for race only or one with all the connections for the factory vacuum lines and such?

A bunch of us out here are running the Kansai manifolds and I love mine. I couldn't really tell you any of the technical advantages of it, but the craftmanship is top notch.

well i have a standalone so i dont no if it would be a big deal to have one without all the connections but it would probly be good to get one with all of the connections

Ihave had the Weapon-R intake maniflod on for the last 3 mths now. Car has a louder note to it now. I got mine as a test pilot for a guy over here for roughly 600USD. i gained about 5-10 WHP with my mods. ( 325 whp) but you will get a bigger gain with a bigger turbo. Weapon-R claims 10-50 whp on properly tuned evos. i not sure of their definition of properly tuned. mine is properly tuned and i didnt get that much but the word around is that the higher the HP the better they work.
A few brands i have seen round are
HKS Kansai quite expensive.
Magnus Motorsports aprx $800USD
Weapon-R aprx $700USD
to name a few.
i installed mine myself. took about 4 hours first time round. manifold comes predrilled with all tapped holes , all you need is half a dozen nipples and a lenght of vaccuum hose. hope this helps a little

How's the Kansai low rpm TQ ? Do you have any dyno comparison ?

I'm sure most will give the high rpm gain but you'll loose a lot down low and mid-range and that's something I'm not willing to sacrifice.

Im using the intake manifol from Pruven Performance it works great with 8 injectors 4/780cc, 4/1000cc making over 600AWHP.

+1 ... very good question

I run the AMS VSR Intake with a 65mm throttle body. The AMS intake does not have plumbing for EGR and had to be retro-fitted to accomodate the PCV hosing. Effects of the intake (on a BB 50 trim turbo and pump gas):
- lost 200 rpm spoolup
- gained between 25 and 30 wheel torque across the powerband.

Kansai is a fortune.

TrinaBabe is currently producing a very interesting design. Check that out.

AMS is awfully beefy and its completely evil. They did a great, great job with that. Magnus and BJs are good also but have, in the long run, not really made it up to the big pressure tests.

I'm sorry I don't have a dyno comparison that would be of any relevance. I also changed my short block to a 2.4l and my turbo to a rx6 at the same time so I don't think that it would really be accurate for what you are looking for. Most of the Mynes Performance cars use this manifold so they should be able to answer your questions about it much better than I can.

The graph I've seen so far has the VSR loose TQ (about 10ish ft/lbs) down low and lower half of midrange. Half way through midrange it catch up w/ the stock mani and begin pulling away.

How can it gain TQ and loose spool ? I would think the 2 would go hand in hand ?

That's not going to do much for the size of the reservoir.
