03 New Trans & Clutch Break-In
03 New Trans & Clutch Break-In
Installing a TRE-built 5-speed and an Exedy Twin HD. Has to be driven a number of hours on the interstate - may get SOME time to drive in/around town before I leave but not much.
I understand for the clutch it's about even engagement wear and it heating up. Careful engagement, then, and the longer trip should allow it all to heat up OK. No high rpm slips.
For the trans it's about seating gears. Ideal would be time in each gear so it can seat. Obviously, alot of fifth will happen. What about 65mph in 4th for a while to seat it - good idea? Screw the gas. Otherwise, don't lug it and don't wrap it for the first 500 miles. It'll be running on Pennzoil's Syncromesh. Next will be BG Syncroshift II.
Any other input or glaring issues with what I've typed up here?
Thanks!
