Need REAL TECH Expert help! No Fuel or Spark after engine swap

to make a long story short, i had a shop swap out motors for me. the car fired up and ran fine when it went into the shop. now the ECU is not sending a signal to the fuel pump or coil packs. everything else is fine. when you put 12v to the fuel pump, it turns on and works, so the pump is good, just not getting the signal from the ECU...

anyone seen this happen before? any thoughts? thanks in advance and feel free to ask any clarification questions....

UPDATE: shop says they checked all the fuses and they were fine. AND, they are getting the correct voltage readings at the crank and cam angle sensors...

any other thoughts on this?

Check the fuses under the hood, the main fuse, the wiring harness to the ECU, and the harness connection to the engine (near the top of the transmission) make sure its all seated..

If its not getting a good signal, you should get a CEL code on the ECU when you crank it.. If the fuse is blown to the ECU, the engine will crank but not start, and you won't be able to query the ECU for CEL Codes..

Make sure the Cam angle sensor is plugged in and/or not damaged.

I just had a short block, mated with my other equipment, and dropped the motor in, and NO SPARK/Fuel etc.. the reason was, the Mitshu mechanic pinched the "blue" wire in half that goes to the crankangle sensor, and the car would turn over, but no run!! They could have done the same thing with yours. they took the lower cover off by the timing cover, and found it. They didn't have to pull the timing belt off or anything. they were SUPER careful putting my engine back together, and STILL did this! Soldered it, runs like a champ now!!

one question for clarification: was the fuel pump priming at all when it was doing this? mine is not priming at all right now...

NO! The computer shut everything down! I think this is your problem, and an EASY fix!! DOnt forget to solder and shrinkwrap!! You will be fine. follow up a blue wire, that is the "signal" wire. this just happened 2 days ago, so it's fresh in my mind. dont freak out!! They just put in a bolt (being SUPER careful remember) but still managed to pinch this wire in half. they even pulled a plug wire, and stuck a screwdriver in the "boot" and tried to crank it and NO SPARK EITHER!! I bet a starbucks this is your problem.

I will also tell you, there is an 15AMP fuse they kept popping under the dash (drivers side). you will need a new "mini-amp" for that, as when the blue wire got pinched, it blew the fuse. so you will have to do both!! Change the fuse, and solder the wire, which I say is the blue one to the crank-angle sensor.

No problem bro!! I am NOT an Expert, but I did stay at the Holiday Inn Select last night!! jk. You can call my mechanic who did it if you want, he can tell you how to get to it without pulling your timing belt. His name is Jay Hunter (Family Mitshubishi service manager) 317-774-2400. tell him I sent you if you need more questions answered, he will help you. Good luck!!

I have the same problem but didn't swap the engine.

Before I left for a trip, I fill my gas tank, drove home, shut the car down, disconected the battery and remove my ECU to get it flash.

A month later came back with the ECU, but spark doesn't fire. I checked the spark, fuses, coil and even change fuel pump.

Still car doesn't run, only crank and that's it.

What do you thing can be wrong? cranck sensor? ( it was working fine before and didn't touch anything under the hood after removing and getting the flash)

Wrong immobilizer code in the ECU is quite the possibility.

I don't see the immobilizer code ligthing up on the right dash corner, so I wasn't thinking it can be the immobilizer. But if that's the case... what to do... Can the tuner change back to my code or have to send it back to the dealer?

I'm 100% sure this is my ECu since I wrote my name on it.
