Evo gas tank questions

Hey there all. My virgin post, so go easy. I'm in the market for an Evo, but I have a couple questions that I can't seem to find answers for. You guys should be able to help.

1. How big is the US E8's gas tank??? I read on the Mitsu Japan site that the E7's tank was only like 10 or 11 gallons (48 liters, actually). I hope thats not true on our Evo. Not that I'm that lazy, but that would be a lot of trips to the station.

2. Does the tank have that annoying hump in the middle for the driveshaft like the tank on my Talon that makes it say its empty when there is actually like 3-4 gallons left??? Gas gets sloshed over to one side and the sensor thinks its empty, but its not. Does the Evo suffer this same fate???

Those are the questions I have. Not real important. They won't change me from buying the car, just wondering. Again, this is my first post, so I'm sorry if this is old. I searched, but came up empty. Great site though, I'm sure I'll be around here a lot. Thanks in advance.

okay check this out kimo sabe', The tank is aprox. 14gal and roughly 52 liters. So the tank is a lil bigger than the evo 7's. And to answer your empty sensor question.....sadly yes, it does say its empty when theres like 3 gal aprox. left. The light will actually go on and off about 3-5 times bfore you have close to 0 left. I know this from toying with it and I had an extra gallon in my trunk just in case I got stuck somewhere and came up short. Also I was filling my tank the first time i encountered the little orange gas light and the read out on the pump said I pumped about 11.23 gallons .........so that left around 3 gallons left that was stuck somewhere in there when the light went on.

Thanks for the reply. I just checked my figures, and 48L is actually 12.7 gallons, but either way. I was kinda hoping the gas tank wouldn't have that hump, but I don't know how it couldn't with the AWD and all. My Talon does the same thing though, and I hate it. The guage will say WAAAAAY empty and the light will come on and stay on. But then I get gas and only put like 12 or 13 gallons in a 16 gallon tank. Oh well. Once you get used to it, its not so bad, just an annoyance.

The Tank doesn't have a hump that I am aware of. The low fuel light begins to light when there is appx 3 gallons of fuel in the tank. But the light goes off and on for a few miles, just like every other car....but not because of a "hump" in the tank. It'll come on then turn off if you are really sloshing the gas around, or if you are driving up and down hills.

huhu...and you are complaining about that? Most people in the US wish they could get 93 octane for that price! Here in MD/VA, 93 octane is 1.90 still.....and it was and still is over $2.00 in some places in the US...

Yeah, we're paying jacked up prices in the Bay Area for **** water 91 octane. I just paid about $2.20 a few days ago. Not long ago, in San Francisco, I saw prices at around $2.50.

2.15 a gallon for 91 is the cheapest I've found around Santa Monica area. $1.69....that's dreaming.

$1.40 for 93 octane in Austin, TX. I was pissed because I paid $1.49 near my house yesterday, then saw $1.40 when I was driving around. Of course I needed the gas, the light was on and the car took 13.1 gallons on fill-up.

I seem to fill up with 11-12 gallons if I do it right after the light comes on.

$2.09 for 92 in Seattle. Lovely. But I would HATE to get 93 at $1.69 per gallon. I don't know how I'd live

The fuel tank is 53 liters, which is pretty spot on 14 gallons.

When i had the car up in the air the other week I seem to remember the hump you're talking about, but my first fill up was very close to 14 gallons ... I ran with the low fuel light on for at least 5 miles.

My best average MPG so far on a tankful of gas is 24, worst was 20.

Gas prices around here are dropping, now at around $1.80 for 94 octane. It's all in the taxes guys and gals, states like GA do not tax their gas that's why they will always have better prices.
