depends, how many miles on your car? when cold its normal for shifts to be on the stiff side, when the car is fully warm then shifts should ease up. I switched to Redline gear oil at 600 miles and felt a big difference shifting, specially when cold.

Hear redline doesn't work well with DSM's. I heard that somewhere on this forum. Just warm up the trans and brake it in. Your trans will become smoother.

I make a few hundred shifts a day in my Evo....travelling through 60 miles of DC traffic. I have never had a problem shifting at all.

Most of the people who have been complaining about rough shifting are;

a. Not noticing that the car is still cold.
b. Complaining about a car that isn't broken in.
c. Are not pushing the clutch ALL THE WAY to the floor before making a shift.

SC~

It's definitely more crisp feeling than other's I've driven, but I think it feels great. I hate the slushy feeling from some others.

Im not complaining, just making sure everything is cool......the car is plenty warm enough, after 45 min of driving to work, but it may be that im not pushing the pedal all the way to the floor, i will try that, thank you

First of all is this clutch a performance clutch or what? If so there is no need to floor the clutch. I only put mine half way in and have had no issues at all. Fluid shoud not make a big difference at all. When are we getting an aftermarket clutch and short throw this would make a big difference.

I hear ya on that 3rd point chimp boy!!!!!!!!

It makes a world of difference when you push in all the way to the floor. I find 3rd is hard because you are going up and away from your body. It s harder hitting 3rd. all the way to the floor when running fast.

It still does it when i push it all the way to the floor, 3rd gear is the only one that feels smooth........should i try adding fluid and if so, what kind, or is it worth taking to the dealer?
Thanks

The only time I have to push the clutch all the way to the floor so far in this car is when I'm starting it up. Otherwise you can actually get very clean shifts while only pressing the clutch roughly halfway to the floor, like lil'evil_evo said.

I was thinking of going with the Redline oil myself. I'm just not sure if it will make any difference. I've had a couple times where it didn't want to go into second gear. The car I had before was an ITR and it seems like I just can't shift this one as fast as I could in the other car. But then again I've heard it's pretty hard to beat shifts in that honda tranny.
