Anyone else had alternator problems? Heard a loud whining noise like clanking metal in the engine and turned out to be the alternator. ALternator was still charging but the bearing on one side was shot causing all the rattling noises.

It was a PITA to remove the alternator. We chose to remove the intake manifold in order to take the alternator out.

Anyone know a good cheaper place to buy alternator for an 03 Evo beside the stealership??

My alternator went out, after the cams/timing belt install...............it was 180 out of phase, causing vibrations which made my alternator bearing go bad, and alternator. did you do any of those recently??

 

i also had to replace my alternator when it went a few thousand miles ago.. the place that rebuilt it told me it shorted out..

How's that new alternator working for ya? Which vender did u order from? I'm assuming it was for the EVO 8 and not lancer
