GT30R .83 owners I have a question for you.

Those of you with 30R .83 when are you getting full boost? Would you guys consider this turbo for a daily driver? Does it have a peaky power band or a nice long one?

well i had a 30r with the .63 hotside and I had full boost 30psi by a little over 3500 RPM...that was on the stock block and 272/272 cams.

I would definitely consider the 30r for a dd turbo...midrange is sweet and it will give you decent power...400 or so at the wheels with a good tune.

What can I expect from my IX with the .83 30R with 272 cams and supporting mods? what can I expect as far as spool and whp? Is the .83 an over kill for a daily driver, would I be better off with the .63?

30 PSI a little over 3500rpms? I'll believe that when mah **** turns purple and tastes like rainbow sherbert...... I make 20 psi at that rpm level on a 2.3.

If your keeping a 2.0 go with the .63 if your gunna stroke it go with the .83, considering how many people run 35R's on 2.0's I would say this is far from overkill for a DD.

It's still going to be a 2.0l just with 272's and head studs. So what kind of spool would I get with the .63 with this motor?

^ Do you have a dynograph or logs, I would love to know what gives, and how your car/setup magically spooled that quick.

If you was getting full boost at 3500rpm you must of been in 5th/6th gear which is un-realistic. Log it and show us, if you are running a 2.0 and in a gear of 3rd or less you have been able to achieve things that no one else has so please share.

GT30 3rd Gear 4200-4500 rpm for 22psi +/-

GT35 3rd Gear 5000-5500 rpm for 22psi +/-

Usually about 700-1000 rpm differences between the two turbos from the cars I have tuned depending upon their setups.

The HKS GT3037 kit has a very nice torque curve and a very rapid boost response compared to the GT3076 turbos we've tuned. Not sure if this is because of the manifold design, the turbo design, or both, but the GT3037 is the way to go if you're looking for good response and spool-up. I believe the lighter "37" wheel has something to do with it. It is a bit more expensive than you average GT3076 kit though. We have a kit in stock at $4999 if you're interested.

Cheers,

Gary

I was recently at my local car meet(all subaru guys) and we had a big discussion on Garrett turbos. Most of them suggested the GT3071R .64 because it's better suited for 2.0l motors.........any info on that turbo? I'm considering it but I don't have enough info like compressor wheel trim/size etc...
