I'm not sure about which rotors to get but I'm close to pulling the trigger on the Baers

 

I'd say DO IT. I LOVE mine.

 

How much did ya pay for it? and what kinda pads are ya running?

 

I paid around $900 for front and rear 2-piece slotted and drilled. got a little bit of a hook up.

i run Ferodo DS2500 pads.

 

Dave do you have any plans for a slightly beefier rotor which may hold up to the road racing courses as previously mentioned? Just curious

You said before that the rotor your testing would warp too easily and wouldn't withstand repeatable hightemp stops.

 

roadspike, there are TONS of companies offering big brake kits for the car, me making something along those lines would not be profitable. Look at the StopTech kits for what you are asking. I've run them and they are excellent.

 

The DS2500 pads can just slap on right? no need to order special pads for these particluar rotors?

 

not true. you can just slap the ds2500 pads in for the front, but the rears have to be ground down due to the bolts on the rear rotors that hold the disc to the aluminum hat. but it will be that way for any pad (i believe) and the rear 2-piece rotors from baer. it is maybe a 30 minute process to shave the pad and backing plate down. well worth it.

 

Subscribed. I'm looking at doing my brakes soon and a light rotor would be awesome to shave some extra weight.

 

Talked with the manufacturer today. The rotors are done and have been shipped in for testing on a brake dyno, finally. The great news is the stock replacement rotor is only 9 pounds. The other great news is some break through in some coatings that can withstand outrageous temps.

Also started making a new rear rotor for a project at the shop right now. If all goes well we will be able to retain the parking brake, which to me is extremely important. This is going to be a lightweight rear rotor, 10 pounds lighter than stock per side, so a 20 pound savings. Right now the measurements I have taken and the parts I have ordered all look good. I am having some pieces machined and begging the machine shop to hurry. If all goes well this project is going to come together very quickly.

 

I'd like to see the end result asap.... I'm gonna hold off on the Baer rotor set till I see what you have to offer

David, are these going on my project? As usual, your call.

 

These will not be a HD rotor for road racing, so if that's what you are looking for these aren't going to fit your needs. The Baer's will work or the Giro Discs we have are great and a cheaper than the Baer's.

9sec9, no these aren't for your car. We are doing the full Wilwood kit on your car all the way around.

 

Will these rotors be OK for auto-x and "sprited" mountain runs?
