Buschur Racing dyno testing brake rotors?
Man.. makes me want some Girodiscs!! Unless Dave proves the Baers to be lighter!@
FYI I had the DS2500's on my 03 and I noticed they were noticeable more aggressive than the stockers. Did you reuse the oem shims or purchase new ones?

I am thinking about getting the Titanium shims from Girodisc and installing them when I get my new wheels. They are supposed to be better at keeping heat from transferring out of the pads and into to the calipers/fluid.
boost4u,
The Project Mu's were the two piece with the aluminum hat, of course
They are advertised to be lighter than they are. As a matter of fact I got them and it was on the condition that when they showed up if they didn't weigh what was advertised I could return them with no fees. I returned them.
trinababe,
The math is not incorrect although would be different as each gear, in actuality, would accelerate differently. If you can accelerate from 100-120 mph in a shorter time after a mod then your 1/4 mile time (as long as you are reaching 120 mph in the 1/4) should be effected equally.

I have the titanium shims from Girodisc. I bought only one set to use on the Time Attack car.
We are a dealer for the Girodiscs. If anyone is interested in them just shoot me a PM for pricing.

i want a set of light 2 piece rotors for the front but i dont want to spend more than like 5 bills, anything i can get? havent really done any research yet, so i thought i would ask.
Dave - how did you like the titanium Shims? I remember trying to cut my oe shims off the oe pads... was a PITA!
If I ever get some $ raised for mods, I'll def look into the Girodiscs Dave.

I had a set of DBA 5000 rotors front and 4000 back on my car If you can get more un-sprung weight of the car it will turn faster and accelerate faster in the end, but to get any sizeable return in this theory it will have to be done on the entire car if done and a good amount of weight is taken off the car one should see a very noticeable improvement in performance.
Boostedwrx and Dave,
I have to correct somethings I said in my last post. First off, the tires I bought were are the Contisport Contact 2s. When I bought them I understood that the OEM Yokohamas weighed 26 lbs per tire and that the same sized Contisport Contact 2s weighted 17 lbs. each. I decided to check this out again and went to both Yokohama's and Continental Tire's web sites. According to their sites the 048 and the Contisport Contact 2 weigh wiithin a half a lb. of each other. I am sure that the 048 are faster at the track. But I stand behind the street friendly statements I made about the Contis. Boosted you were right that I didn't know which tires were on my car and Dave apparently I was flat wrong about the tire weights.

deadbeatrec,
The Performance Friction rotors are the lightest for the money. I can sell those for $625 a set for the fronts. They have an aluminum hat and weigh in at 17.7#'s.
As a side note. Anyone looking. I have a few sets of really good stock EVO front and rear rotors here. I can even turn them to make sure they are perfectly true before I ship them. If anyone needs them make me an offer.

Interestingly, the BFG drag radials are fat pigs as far as weight goes. . . I would have thought they would be lighter since they are drag specific.
BTW, Thanks David for the test!! Glad I went with the GiroDisc rotors. Hopefully installing them on my car was a little inspiration for your test!
