Mitsubishi rear strut brace

just a question,

if you picked up your evo with the Rear Strut Brace option already installed, and it did not have the front brace option, would you ADD a stiffer front brace (like mitsubishi brand or aftermarket?)

will a REAR brace option improve on the handling at all by itself? or is a front brace needed?

hope that makes sense

Your Evo didn't have a FSTB? I thought they came standard but the only option was to get a colored one or some waste like that.

completely stock the evo comes only with a front brace.

but, there is two brace options you can choose from. front and rear (i assume the front brace option replaces the stock brace, and is more rigid).

my question is, if the car comes with a rear brace option - would it be wise to match up with an improved front brace. or does it matter at all.

The stock front brace is steel.
The optional one is aluminum.

It is very unlikely that the optional front brace will make any significant difference due to additional rigidity.

It's slightly lighter weight, which is good, and it looks better. That's all.

Don't sweat it.

On second thought - your rear brace is very dangerous. You should remove it and send it to me for safekeeping.

I think I am going to add the rear brace, probably my only dealer installed option.

the alum front brace is great (nice looking & very light) but WAY overpriced and the stock steal one is heavy as hell. Some tuning company is going to make a small fortune selling light & stiff alum/titamium braces to the Evo crowd.

question for the auto-x/RR gurus - can you stay in SCCA showroom stock with aftermarket front & rear strut braces?

you can only stay in the stock class if the front and rear brace options are from the factory, not the dealer.

Dealer or port installed options are not legal for the stock classes.

Is the rear brace a dealer option or factory installed option?

I hope the answer is "from the factory" because you have other problems with the rear brace in street prepared.

Street prepared rules only allow a rear brace that connects strut top to strut top, the triangluar braces are specifically excluded, which puts you in street mod.

Dealer installed option.

All the Evo "performance parts" are DIO's. The brake cooling guides, the earthing kit, the rear brace, etc.

Not legal for SCCA stock classes.
