When are you guys changing out your stock plugs?

And what is prompting you to change them?

I'm running ~350whp and still running the stock plugs at 23k. Car seems to drive fine Don't fix what isn't broke, right?

Mine were shot at 20k miles.....look at the plugs, if they still look healthy then they are fine to use.

I changed my original plugs when my car started stuttering at full boost. Now that I have NGK BPR7ES, I change them about every 6,000 miles. They are cheap, so I don't mind changing them out alot.

I'm wondering the same. I just saw a thread where the car in question was mildly modified, like intake, catback, boost controller, and tune pretty much; and he was breaking up BAD on racegas starting at 6k. Al told him to switch out his plugs, and that worried me, because i wonder if i should do the same.

It's more of a question of at what power level, then what miles; for me.

STOCK PLUGS ARE IRIDIUM SO IN NA CARS THEY RECOMMEND 60K. IN A TURBO CAR i WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT IT WOULD BE SHORTER LIKE MAYBE 45K. i CHANGED MINE OUT TO COPPER CORE BPR7ES AT 25K. THE STOCKERS DIDNT LOOK TO BAD i THOUGHT. I DID NOTICE THO THAT THE 2 PLUGS THAT HAVE COP HAD ALOT DARKER OF A COLOR AROUND THE PORCELIN THEN THE 2 WITH WIRES.

I changed my stockies out when I bought the car at 18k. Put in NGK Irridiums. Didnt like them so I switched to copper BPR7ES gapped to .026 I think the car runs better than ever now. Alot smoother throughout the power band. Youll just have to change them every 3-6k depending on driving style.

Tossed them when I started to get the random missfire code at idle after putting the cams in around 14k miles. BR7ES gapped at .027 changed every 5k with the oil. No more missfire issue.

When I was tuned, I put new plugs in before I went on the dyno.

I would of change them in your case by now.

I went with NGK 8s

BPR7ES gapped to .25 is what's recommended. But the question is, when in the modification path is a good time to swap out the stockers for these.

It just depends on you KO. If you start stumbling at full boost thenswitch them out. But if you aren't having any problems then hold out till something starts to hiccup. My concern is all these people saying that they are changing their plugs after 5000 miles....guys unless there is something wrong with them you are just throwing money away .
