Boost leak test

Ok, first I did do a search, and can't seem to find what I was looking for, so here goes.

On my 03 EVO 8, right as I start to read boost, I get a loud annoying whistle sound. Now this is not like the usual turbo spool sound, but it actually sounds like I have a gnome under the hood blowing a referees whistle.

Now I assume boost leak. Now here is where I'm stumped. I have tons of boost test on 1g's and 2g's, so I know how it works, but I'm not quite sure 100% on what to do on an EVO. I have a Dejon intake and Greddy Type RS bov, that I purposely have recirculated (did not want the venting issues).

Now normally I know to just take the intake off the turbo, put on the tester, and so forth. But what do I do about the bov? I mean once I take the intake off, that leaves one side of the bov open, and I obviously can't get a good test that way. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, or even a noobie question, but I am just used to testing DSMs where the bov is already on the uic and don't have this issue.

If someone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton guys/gals!!

Just do it like that. The valve should not open, so the open side of the BOV will not matter. If it DOES open, then you know it's leaking at XXX psi. My stock BOV opened at 13psi during my test, but then my JDM MR DV didn't open until 24-25psi. My Forge RS never opens.

Sweet, thanks for the help. I am going to have to build a new tester tonight when I get out of work. I just was not sure if having that end open would mess up anything. Thanks again!
