Help-Dealer says using GL4 for entire drivetrain?
Help-Dealer says using GL4 for entire drivetrain?
Okay, I have done a lot of research and most are using BG synchroshift in their tranny and Mitsu stock diaqueen for the transfer case and rear diff. I stopped by the dealer and they said they are using the same stuff in all three and he thought that it was GL4.
Just want to make sure that he is giving me the right stuff. He seemed to think that was the only kind they had or used. I was going to only use in transfer case and rear diff but I think the spec was for GL-5
Also, does anyone know the difference between BG syncroshift and BG synchroshift II? Thanks guys.

You said "he thought it was gl4." Well, then he doesn't know, and he's dead wrong anyway.
They MAY use GL-4 in everything, but that doesn't make it right. Hell, my local dealer buys huge drums of generic tranny fluid and uses it on every car. They don't bother paying Mitsu for the real Super DiaQueen, and I told them that when I do my 30k mile service, it is only getting the OEM fluid. They said ok, but everyone else gets generic fluid without knowing.
GL-4 = tranny
GL-5 = diffs

Yes make sure that they are not using bulk fluid. Most dealerships by bulk fluid and assume that this is ok.
I Use Amsoil GL4 for the tranny and GL5 Diaqueen for the diffs

And another important part is the fluid viscosity rating, which they may not use the same for all.
tranny = GL-4 75-85W
T-case = GL-5 SAE 90W
Rear End= GL-5 SAE 90W
moreover, the rear end fluid must be specified for LSD's.
