CAMS 264/272 or 272/272? help!!

alright before any flaming i have searched, the most i found while searching was mere opinions. does anybody know what would be the better set-up? im ready to purchase asap. so far the mods i have are injen intake UIP, costum 3inch exhaust, hallman MBC, and i just installed a s-afc2. forgot to mention the cam gears are here awaiting the cams, fuel pump, and headstuds. so which set up would be the best? any help would be greatly appreciated.

272 straight so you won't have to upgrade again due to a larger turbo in the future. Great as a daily driver anyways.

You ask which setup would be best...best for what? You searched and got opinions..that's all your going to get again
With the 264/272 setup the only advantage will be a good idle to go along with good topend. IMO, if you have camgears there is no sense in getting the 264/272's. Get the 272/272's and set them at -4/-1 for good topend AND good idle...and you can play with the powerband even more by adjusting the cam timing if you don't care about idle but want lowend such as +1/-1.
Another good power making option for lowend lowend/midrange power is 272/264 setup.

I've run the HKS 272/272 in both our EVO and my Supra. Idle is still very smooth and lag is barely noticeable as compared to the stock cams. We made 325whp with the stock turbo on pump, 402 with our HPF turbo on pump and so far 535whp with our HPF turbo on race fuel. This is with the entire motor stock except for the cams. Most of the time I'm deciding between 272's and 280's.

Take care,
Chris.

I think with the 272/272 combo, it's all about setting the cam gears. A lot of guys have them at -3/-3 or -2/-2, but after seeing some comments from Ted B, +1/-1 or +2/0 may be better. The complaints about 272's that I have seen are about response @ tip in.

More people with the +1/-1 setup should chime in.

Well chris u saw what my 272 did to anothonys srt4. So there no question. I think u should try the 272/264 setup. Jeff has that in his evo and he made like 370hp and ran a 11.7 in the quarter. I only made 348 on my setup. SO try that combo it will also give u more tq
