looks like it prematurely wore out, however you shouldn't have any bent valves

Weird. I checked out mine since Im at 52k and it looks good as new. I will be doing the maintenance a little early now though LOL

These damn 4G63s and their puny 60k timing belts. I have 48k on my car, and thinking about this pisses me off. My Honda revved higher and had a 105k belt.

can you take a good pic of your cam gears with the belt off? It might help explain the belt failure, or maybe not. Others have complained here about the HKS cam gears losing their hardened surface finish and chewing into the timing belt. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Interesting pictures.

When Mitsubishi claims 60K on a timing belt, they probably intend
it to be used on a stock Evo.

Being interference engines, it's a good thing you caught that.

Are you going to replace it with a stock or aftermarket belt ?
Maybe a Power Enterprise or something like that ?
