The Right Engine Oil

Yes, the lifter sound happens on a lot of Evos, especially when the engine is cold and the wrong oil is used (the wrong oil is the one Mitsubishi specify in their manuals, the right one is 10W60).
The exhaust warming up or coling down is totally normal.
But maybe it's not that, have it checked by the dealer, you've got a warranty

Hi limey
it's not only me thinking it, it's everybody who knows about these cars saying it. The 60 insures better protection at high temperature. It's especially important when you tune the car (which everybody seems to want to do or is doing). All the rally Evos I know use 10W60 or 10W55 btw.

People generally use CASTROL RS which is highly regarded. I also found FUCHS oil in a small store here (made in Germany) and put that into my Subaru Impreza (the engine's still running
). In the UK REDLINE oil is available in that spec. My rally team used to use Castrol RS but now use IGOL 10W55 because they got it cheaper and it's close enough. No other brands come to my mind right now, but I'm sure a web search woulkd turn up a few more 10W60 synthetic oils
"More than you ever wanted to know about motor oil." A good read to continue your education and understanding enabling you to make an informed decision.
