The only benefit I see of a taller surface between the top of the combustion chamber and the base of the spark plug valley is more room for cooling passages, which makes much more sense than an effort to eliminate "lifter tick".
well its in the '06 brochure that the head is taller. now they don't actually say that the head is taller to elimiante lifter tick but common sense would tell us that since the MIVEC required a taller head & longer spark plugs that would essentially rid cammed EVOs from that problem...

I'm not sure what type of "common sense" would lead you to the conclusion that a taller head would eliminate lifter tick. Even if the head were six inches taller, if the lifters and rocker arms have the same geometry the lifter tick would likely remain present.

According to NGK Techs, the two plugs are the same except for two minor differences.
ILFR7H - OEM GAPPED AT .024" PLATINUM TIPPED ELECTRODE
LFR7AIX - SAME DIMENSIONS, GAPPED AT .028" (WILL NEED TO BE ADJUSTED) AND ELECTRODE IS NOT PLATIMUM TIPPED.
Difference is the OEM will last longer and will not need to have the gap adjusted. For a difference of $4 a plug, you can adjust the gap and change it at 20K, instead of 30K.
