Buschur GT3065 Review

These GT series style turbo's are not going to put out decent power until you get near at least 30psi or above.
I would def look into A) ditching the 3065 and installing a 50trim(if you just want 500whp and prefer not to spend more mula), or B) getting an AEM or UTEC or something of similar capabilities so that you can take advantage of the turbo.
Your next battle will come into play on the bottom end. The stock bottom end would be best suited to stay in the 470-500whp range if intended to be left in stock form and retain some sort of reliability.
Sorry about the bashing, but I'm tired of seeing threads(not just on evom...in fact mainly on other forums) that complain of not as much power as desired, or having problems with knock and such..and it stemming from a poor tune.

Hey Ben
I have my tune date with TT in a couple of weeks. I'm rinning the same exact set-up as you...
hope you match your numbers bro

I had originally planned on a 50 trim but figured running a slightly bigger turbo at less boost would be safer overall, to date that assumption has been wrong.
Also, as far as full spool by 4krpm in 3rd gear are you getting from an AEM log because the car does spool deceptively quick on the street.

Just buy a AEM and have David Buschur tune it.....problem solved

An AEM Really isnt a reasonable option.. Not to mention its not reasonable to expect him to spend another $1200-$2000 just for engine management.. I'm sure there's a glitch somewhere that has to be worked out, and the ECU can produce the numbers, the MAF may be a problem (though there are others making that number on a reflash with stock MAF)
I have to see your dyno sheets to see what the torque curve looks like.. It may be torque is falling off quicker than necessary, maybe the heat, spark quench, misfire, or any number of things, and perhaps you need more lean spool, and a bit more timing before you ramp completely into boost..
Need to see if there is a huge pressure differential between the turbo and intake too.. Maybe a restriction, or the turbo working harder than necessary due to some sort of boost leak (DV blowing open or leaking a little) I don't know that your MAF sensor is an issue, but who knows, even a crappy air filter or one that is too small can throw things off..
There's enough to question..
I really don't understand the disappointment though, their still good numbers for the mods you have, and the size turbo..

There are a couple of things I would like to comment on from the very first post in this thread.
It was mentioned that you would need coolant line gaskets... there are no coolant line gaskets on the Evo. There are crush washers that go on the bolts and you should have one on the bottom going into the turbo and one on the top by the head of the bolt. We do include oil feed and return line gaskets with this kit though.
The 02 sensor bung issue that was mentioned. On a car with the stock setup the 02 sensor bung is on the 02 housing as I am sure most of you are aware. On this kit we normally do not install a 02 sensor bung as we didnt think alot of people running a turbo of this size would be running it with a flash. If you ran this kit with a standalone you can eliminate that 02 sensor all together. Believe it or not this is the first time we heard anyone say anything about this and we have sold quite a few of these kits. Now that it has been brought to our attention it is something we will have to start asking the customers when they place their orders. If anyone has this kit and needs a 02 sensor bung you can give me a call here at the shop and I will be glad to send one out to you. Any local exhaust shop could weld it for you. They may do it for free since it would take all of 2 minutes or worst case they would probably charge $5-$10 at the most to do it.
As for the manifold nuts. You should have recieved those with your kit. I apologize they must not have been in there or it is possible they were overlooked. They are normally all together in a zip lock bag in the box. We could have sent those to you if you had given us a call. I apologize for the inconveniece on that.
The downpipe tweaking.... Our kits are designed to work specifically with our downpipes. I know other brands work without problem as well as other brands that would require some slight modification or tweaking for perfect fitment. It appears the DC Sports dp is one that required some slight tweaking.
There was a wastegate and radiator clearance concern that was brought up also. I have been running this same kit on my car since the begining of April with NO issues what so ever. We have not had any customers mention any problems they have encountered so I really think you will be fine.
As for the power your car is low on a dynojet. My car is equipped with our stages 1-4, AEM EMS and the 3065 turbo kit. I am only running HKS 272 cams and I am also still running the stock block, stock head, stock ignition, stock intake manifold and stock throttle body. On 22-23psi and STRAIGHT 94 octane no alky my car put down 342whp/287trq. on our Mustang AWD dyno. Here is the dyno chart from that.

On C16 and 29psi it put down 462whp/387trq. On the dyno chart you see posted you will see 31.1psi as that whats the dyno picked up for boost but the AEM log showed nothing higher than 29psi.

The tunes are my car are also very conservative. It is tuned around 11.3-11.5 a/f ratio.
The best pass my car has made to date was an 11.04@128mph. This was done on 18" VOLKS w/ BFG KDW2 tires. It was 92 degrees the day it ran that and it was on a crappy 1.74 60' due to alot of spinning.
I would say there definately is something in your setup that is hindering the power that this turbo is capable of making.
Let me know if you need anything or if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help you out.

My initial post was not to attack the kit, just that there are slight extras that are overlooked. This kit has elements which make it non friendly to relative novices and I figured I'd point that out. I did mention the exhaust bung issue to Nick and he said he couldn't send it out prewelded with the 02 bung. No shop around here would even think of welding that on free, I ended up paying $40 bucks on that. Simply not worth the time in their day to do it for 10 bucks.
Two friends of mine who recently bought your kit also did not receive manifold nuts either so maybe this is something you recently changed. I was just attempting to be somewhat thorough in my write up.
Minor points aside, I assumed my results would resemble yours as well. 450whp (dynojet) at 25psi with a mild tune was my general expectation and a reasonable one IMO. Im not trying to assign blame just sharing my experience to date. The results definitely frustrated/discouraged me more than you can imagine.

Actually, My kit (a GT35r kit) didn't have the manifold nuts supplied with the kit, and I did mention the O2 bung thing to Dave when I noticed the same thing.. But he did offer to send a bung, but I had already taken care of it at that point.. Everything else on my kit went really easily for me though, I did/do have a problem getting a good seal with the VBand on the exhaust turndown for the downpipe between the pipe and turbo, Its something I probably can fix when I have a chance to, but I adjusted and tightened it twice.

We did actually just change the kit to where it would include the nuts with it. I do apologize to you, your friends and anyone else who that caused a inconvenience to.
Remind me on your next order and I will work with you to make up for the 02 bung problem as well.
I can imagine that you would be discouraged with those #'s as they should be higher. It really all has to do with parts and combinations. Some supporting mods work well together and others do not. As I said in my first post I think there is something in your setup that is not agreeing and that is hindering your performance.
What do you have for Upper and Lower intercooler plumbing? Does the exhaust you run have any restrictions or resonators?
