Boost spiking ?

Finally set my hallman to 20psi. Is this normal: In 1st gear boost goes to 23psi then tapers to 19 and hold about 19.5, then 2nd gear and above it holds 20psi perfectly. I'm wondering if I should turn the boost down maybe a quarter turn so it doesn't spike so high in 1st. Will hitting 23psi do some damage? Thnx for everyone's help.

You should set your boost in 3rd gear.

3rd gear? Alright, i'll def do that. My mbc started acting up last night. It was fine, holding 20psi most of the day, then last night i got on it and the boost went to 25+ psi and hit fuel cut !? I turned the mbc all the way down til the cap came off, then screwed it on about two threads but it is still hitting 25+ psi ????????> WHAT IS GOING ON?????! the hoses seem fine (not kinked or put on wrong) so my only guess is that the spring got stuck on one of the threads maybe? I have yet to check it out. This really blows, well atleast i'll save gas by not getting on it til it's fixed. Thnx again for everyones help. appreciate it

Did you reference your boost off the nipple on the compressor housing or off the BOV line? I myself like setting boost level according to max boost reached while floored in top gear. You might wanna try a friend's MBC in place of yours just to know if it your MBC funking out on you.

my hallman is a piece. it already broke.the knob came off. i have to change my boost with a set of pliers. what happened is the piston got pushed in all the way! and it wasn't unscrewing when i thought it was. so i just had to pull off the knob and turn it with a set of pliers.

wow, hallman is a great boost controller imo, and I've used the same one for my VIII and IX. But yeah, set it in 3rd gear, and depending how you have your hoses set up your boost might spike less or more.

wg line to mbc and intake line teed off going to the bov and mbc. That way offers more positives than the other way.
