Question launch rev limiter

So after reading thread after thread about how to launch, I decided to actually check if there was actually a 5k launch limiter. AND.....yeah NO launch limiter. I didnt over-rev into the red but it did surprise me as it jumped to 7k. What's the deal? Is this a new ECU version? I just got my IX a month ago.

Did you have the clutch depressed? The 5K rev limiter works only when the clutch is pushed in. Peace.

You just didn't do it right. Either the clutch wasn't depressed, or you were moving slightly. You must be stationary with the clutch depressed, else it free revs.

I had the clutch in but i had it at the level before actual engagement. Should it be on the floor? I guess there's a possibility that it was slightly rolling. I just wanted to prove it to a friend last night, as we were discussing it. I'll have to try it again sometime soon

yes to the floor. As far as it needs to be in to start the car.

You have it & I am sure that you can make it happen half way pressed because the switch that activates this is located at the back of the clutch pedal arm but I will not recommend that because you will burn your clutch. If you dont want this 5k rev limiter it is very easy to remove, just un-plug the switch. I have done this already.

Don't you have to be engaged into first also? Or just the clutch depressed? Not sure.

+1.
And for safety, when youre coming to a stop after moving. Come to a complete stop, put it in neutral, let off clutch, then put clutch back in and put in gear; then go.
