Question to those with EBC
Question to those with EBC
Hi, I have a Blitz SBC iD and Power Meter Combo I bought on Ebay a few months ago and it has been working great on the streets, also I think the Power Meter its pretty accurate because last time I put my car on the dyno it made 339.8whp and doing 3rd gear pulls on the street I get 343whp on the Power Meter. Thats an amazing little tunning device.
But here whats happening, I have my Blitz SBC iD with a SET of 76 and a GAIN of 27, I get a peak of around 23.5psi and it goes down to around 21psi at 7000rpm and the power meter reads 343whp. Thats great for me. But a few weeks ago I went to my local track and started doing 12.4-12.6 et 1/4 mile runs when I ussually run 12.2-12.3 with some wheelspin. I checked my Blitz and it said I had a peak boost of 22.2psi only and the power meter said I had only 320whp, I raised the SET setting on my EBC to around 80 and I got the same results, no change on peak boost. Then I decided to install my Hallman MBC because I still had it and raised the boost, with the Hallman I got a peak of around 27-28psi(this is all with 104 octane gas), the Power Meter was reading around 370whp and the car inmediatly started to ran consecutive 12.20, 12.28, 12.21, 12.23 passes.
A week ago I went back to the track and decided to try again with the EBC, but got the same results, around 22.3 peak boost and 320whp in the power meter, after one of the passes still inside of the parking of the track I step on the gas and got the usual 23.4 peak boost. I was like WHAAAT??? Apparently the EBC works very different on the track surface than on the streets.
I was talking about this to a local tuner and he told me that the Blitz its pretty accurate and the boost shouldnt change, he also told me it wasnt the same thing doing pulls at third gear on the streets as doing it from stand still on the track, that the loads were different. Guess what? I went to the streets and did some pulls from 1st gear to 3rd gear, and the tuner was right, I only got around 22.6psi of peak boost. Then inmediatly did a 3rd gear pull and got the usual 23.2psi. Apparently its not the same if I run from stand still. Apparently when I step on the gas at high gears and the car is making boost it goes a higher than usual.
So the question is, Do you guys have different settings for street and strip on your EBC? How much is the change? Anyone else noticed this on their EBC? Can my Solenoid be bad? Remember I bought everything used and its around 2 years old but in great condition.
I have a great setting for the streets, but it doesnt work that good on the track. Now I keep both Boost Controllers on the car until I find a setting that works for me on tha track.
Any comments on this?
