throttle stuck open
throttle stuck open
i just did the seal change on my TB and i noticed that my throttle stays 1-3% open when i stop at a red light...its gets stuck at 1500 rpm or 1700 ......i have to tap the throttle to get the throttle to close completly at 900rpm.....
the tps was marked on 3 places and put exactly back inthe same place the slack on the cable is perfect and i even compared it to my buddies evo to make sure.....kinda clueless here if its something that might go away or something related to the TB it self....any suggesitons?

sound like the tb blade maybe biting/rubbing the tb housing. I suggest getting a few feeler gauge blades .0015" & .002", loosen the 2 blades screws & center up that t.b. blade.

if the throttle lever comes in contact with the throttle body, EVERYTIME you release it & let go to he idle position, then you ahve a tps setting issue.
The thing is that's its not a constant thing every time is every once in awhile. Great now I have to take this thing apart and see if the adjustment is true. Can any one else chime in on that before I take it apart?
hurricane supplies? i dont understand how people can live in these states.... I don't think i could
I would take the UICP off and have a buddy step on the gas in the car while you look at the butterfly valve. The top of the circular plate will open inward to the intake mani and downward. If the butterfly valve isn't rubbing against the inside of the TB housing, then it is possible either the springs aren't properly tensioned or the shaft seals didn't get enough grease on them and/or the shaft didn't get cleaned off well enough from the old seals.
I don't think this is TPS related.

Yeah well hopefully my car gets blown away in this one so I can get insurance money and buy a new one lol. But anyways.
I doubt its tps related aswell. It has to be either the spring or the butterfly like you guys think it is!! Well ill give it a try later tonight and ill post my results. But I did clean and grease where the oring goes very well.

manually open the valve by manipulating the throttle cable mechanism. Does it snap shut upon releasing it? there should be a good amount of tension on the spring holding the butterfly valve closed
