What's wrong with my car??

OK tonight all of a sudden my car started making a strange high pitched, twangy whinning noise in gears 4-6. 4th its the least noticable 5th is worse that 4th and 6 is the worst of the 3. it only does it when it's in gear and when you're on the gas... VERY VERY slight throttle causes it the most. I mean VERY light throttle with ur foot barely touching the gas, no boost still in vacuum. It started after I got on it 1st to 2nd 2nd to 3rd and then I missed 3rd to 4th (oops) then I thru it into neutral let the RPMS come down started driving it again normally and it was doing it. It has NEVER DONE IT BEFORE... I'm trying to be as honest and give as much info as possible to try to get the best possible answers from you guys as to what it could be.... 4400 miles on the a car...Thanks in advance.

No it didnt really seem like it. No horrific grinding sounds no, just got off the clutch too much too quick before the 3-4 shift and the gate was already closed basically so it just revved and I put it in neutral and that was it.

I would be stumped too on what it is, but if you ever figure it out or the dealership, let me know just in case if it happens to me.

I took it in to the dealership today reproduced the sound no problem they think its transfer case/pinion gear. They're saying they dont know exactly cuz they havent torn it down but that's whathey're thinking and that it looks like they're gonna just be ordering a brand new transfer case and sendin me on my way...

It sounds like the TC, I noticed that you have a 3 inch downpipie, make sure that the downpipe is not to close to the TC, the heat from the downpipe may cause your Gear fluid to break down or even burn through the aluminum casted TC casing. Try heat wraping the DP and changing the TC fluid. You need to do this soon before its to late.

did i say its a transfer case in one of the first posts, it really doesnt matter how many miles you have on the car, one wrong shift and you can mess up the transfer case or rear

Yeah you were 100% correct in ur assumption I just never expected it to be that so soon. They ordered me a brand new transfer case no questions asked... and about the DP it seems to have plenty of clearance, but tryin to find some nice heat wrap definitely wouldnt hurt, I might look into that... Thanks for the advice
