Anyone done headwork on the IX head Porting ect?
I just got acess to a flow bench here in Daytona, FL and I am going to clean my back up head to see what we can get it to flow without hurting the velocity.

94awdcouple I got to thinking yesterday, and thought exactly what you had said. Although Cosworth has experience making fast cars, they really have NO experience with the 4g63. So I'm looking elsewhere, are you familiar with Kelford's work? Their stg 2 head looks nice, or even stg 3 which is completely customized for your application, cams etc. They also have a set of cams for the IX int/exh 280/284 11.50mm/11.00mm. Obviously a drag combo, which is what my intention is.
Another thing with the Cosworth head I was thinking about was what it was to be used for? street? autocross? track? drag? I don't really like the "one size fits all" approach.
need2speed thanks for the info, I will look into it as well.
DRFTKNGG what are you plans? do you have anything lined up right now?

I think there is no one head design that world best fit the needs of all applications, AMS and Bushur might give a better head for the 1/4 mile where there is only full throttle and high rpm.
when it comes to an application where part throttle, on and off throttle and a wide rpm band the cosworth head might be better.
p.s. in the late 80's almost every race car for England to Austrailia was a ford siera cosworth rs 500, it is also said the cosworth is doing the engineering for the new nissan skyline gtr engine,

LOL!!!
I can't believe they're actually bragging about the POS motor they unleashed upon F1 last season. The Williams cars blew up nearly every race, the motors were junk. Williams dumped Cosworth for Toyota for 2007. Hardly worth bragging about.
