Cannot tell if I have cams.....Help
I bought an 05 Evo about a month ago. I guess I didn't really realize it because I was excited when I bought the thing, but it has a really loby idle. Every tech I have talked to says it idles like 272's. I just finally took my valve cover off and I dont see anything from any company's markings stating they were changed. The only thing I see is that they have holes in them and are hallow. What do I have?
stock cams idle rough compaired to alot of normal care
if you look on dyno flashes websit it gives you a list of things his flash does for you and one of the items listed says that the flash will smoth out the idle

You can have a boost leak that is causing your idle to sound different. Does your rpm needle movewhen your at idle? When i got my cams it had the lopey idle bigtime. After i got flashed by AL it went away and now almost sounds exactly like stock.
no boost leak. I have redone everything. Especially I put a hardpipe kit on
and no leaks. I have heard a 272 soundclip and it sounds identical. The needle doesn't move during idle.

It is a bit laggy on boost though.

Stock cams are hollow; at least they were on 03's. They have holes in them and you should be able to see that they are hollow. One of the holes is close to the oil cap; you should be able to see it without taking off the valve cover. Aftermarket cams (most of them) are solid, no holes. Since yours are hollow then I'd say they're stock.
