Can BG Syncroshift

last 10,000 miles for daily driven evo 8? This oil is a little thin compares to the stock. I don't want to change it every 5,000 miles. Please give me your interval of tranny fluid changes, if you use BG. Thanks.

I've not used it but im gunna...I've heard nothing but good stuff about that stuff...rule of thumb you want to change your tranny fluid every 20 to 30 thuo....But since we beat on our babys...do it like 10 to 15 thuo...cant go wrong!

Yes it will last as long as any conventional fluid does. I've used it in my car for years with no problems. I recently switched to Pennzoil Syncromesh, and noticed that the car shifts a lot smoother. It seems to work much better than the BG fluid, and it's a lot cheaper.

I have not tried any other fluid other then stock and BG. I love BG when compare to stock fluid, but people say we (if using BG) should change it every other oil change, which is about 6,000 miles. I was wondering if I can go more mile because I only use the car to drive to and from work. Thanks for the respond guys.

I have bg in my car now, and I am never going to use it again. I flushed the stock fluid w/ BG at 1500 to get the metal shavings out. I am gonna try Motul gearoil this time, which is 75-90.

I've had the same BG in my DSM for 60,000 miles and it still shifts great. It is just a daily driver, I don't beat on it. For hard driving I would certainly not leave it in this long but unless you track the car, 6,000 is too often to change IMO.

With BG, I would probably change t around 10k-15k miles. For just the regular toy+daily driver I would go 15k, if your racing it then 10k.

BGI won't last 10k miles.. it breaks down pretty easily from what others have said. It's the same as syncromesh. I think most people change it anywhere from 2-7k miles on a track driven evo.

BGII is a full synthetic and will last a lot longer...

First he's not talking about track usage. He said daily driver.

BG I will certainly last more than 10k in a daily driver that only sees occasional quarter mile WOT type usage. I've used it for much more than 100K miles like this and never changed it at less than 30k. My DSM has 270,000 miles on it and more than half on BG. This is first hand real info. But feel free to listen to the experts.

If you want experts contact the manufacture. I'm sure they have more experience than all of us combined.

Stock fluid will last the duration of the car if you drive it like a honda lol

I have always wondered if switching to GM syncromesh was a safe thing to do. That stuff worked wonders on my S2000 tranny. It was super smooth shifting.

I sound like a broken record saying this but I absolutly love motul fluids. After I changed to there gear oil in the tranny and the gear comp(FF) in the t case and diff. Huge difference the car never shifted so smoothly. I will noit use anything but motul anymore

There are two Motul tranny oils suitable for the Evo tranny. One is called Motul Gear 300. It is a fully synthetic 75W-90, GL-4 rated oil which meets GL-5 specs as well. The other is called Motul Motylgear a semi-synthetic 75W-90. Either one can be used in the Evo tranny. The fully synthetic "Gear 300", is the better of the two and is what I use.

A friend who does a lot of street racing and power shifting in his Evo was constantly complaining about the notchy feel of his tranny. He thought his synchros were going out and he complained about binding and hard shifting. He had been using BG synchroshift II.

I finally talked him into switching to Motul Gear 300 and now he is really happy with his much smoother shifting tranny. But what really convinced him was when he would shift my car after driving in his. There really was a noticable difference.
