Just had my SES codes checked, got 5 of them.

Ok, I know that a lot of people had the 0300 code, so I'm just making this thread to see if any of my others are fairly common...

First things first, I know my second O2 sensor is DEAD, can I just get a Perrin simulator and get rid of it all together? Seems like the most cost efficient way to go about it...?

P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected - Do I have to take it to the dealer to get rid of this?

P0401 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected - This one stumps me, what the hell could be wrong with my EGR?

P0141 EGO Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0136 EGO Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
- Knew about these before hand.

P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1) - My buddie throws this code a lot with what seem to be no ill effects, is this just another "0300" type code?

My mods, just to be safe:

Engine
AMS LICP
Apexi AFCII
ARC FMIC
HKS SSQV (Don't give me any ****, this has been on the car longer than anything and it never caused a problem.)
K&N Drop-in
PTE 680's
Walboro 255
RNR TBE
TurboXS HPMBC

Drivetrain
Exedy Hyper Twin Metallic

How did you know about the P0136 code? I just got that on my car recently as well. I've been trying to find out more about it. So this is the rear 02 sensor that's damaged?...the one from the cat?

The P0300 code...if you've searched, you'll come to find out that it won't affect the car's performance, just more of a nuisance than anything. That's come on in my car in the past also. Changed plugs (Iridium IX) and gapped them differently (.025), and it's been ok since. I've heard if you go to dealer for the flash, you won't be able to get a custom flash afterwards, so don't do it.

I believe the PO171 has to do with fuel trims being out of range. Have you done anything to tune for your 680cc injectors during cruise and idle? If so, it seems that you may be pulling out too much fuel. Try adding some fuel in to the low map in your AFC, it should take care of that code.

The EGR code could be due to a hose coming loose. I don't recall exactly where it is, but I do recall reading about it a few times. Search around for EGR threads and it should lead you to the solution.

I know nothing of the 0136 code, just that my car throws it. I came from Autozone to the house and made this thread, I haven't started researching anything just yet.

Thanks for the info on the 0300, I'll look into some plugs.

Funny thing is, I'm trying to get all my SES' taken care of before I retune, so I'll replace my O2 sensor, plug in my EGR hose, get new plugs and figure out what's up with my knock sensor and then clear all of the codes and start tunning. Hopefully the 0171 won't come back, but if it does I'm sure it'll be easier to hunt down by itself.

Found all the EGR threads by the way, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

P0401 is your gas cap. It could be leaky or it was cracked while the engine was running.

That's cool. But you did say your 2nd 02 sensor is dead right?...the one from the cat?? I didn't get the whole bank 1 sensor 2 thing!

Assuming sensor 2 is the rear 02 sensor.

Wait, you're kidding right? How could my gas cap throw a code?

Oh, yeah my O2 sensor was hanging under the car for a week or so, an it just happened to turn into the week that it rains here in NM. So I know FOR SURE that my rear O2 is done, but I'm not ruling out any problems with my front one...

The gas cap can throw a code because when you drive your tank get pressurised. Ever wonder why they put your gas cap in the little connection when you get emissions done? Or why the thanks makes a *psshhh* noise sometimes when you fill up? Your gas tank becomes part of your emissions system. If its not sealed then you could be leaking fumes into the atmosphere.

True! Mine was hanging also for a while after having to extend it for my UR test pipe. That could be the perp right there!

Yes sir! It even has a warning on the cap itself. My Acura has a warning on it also...I believe most newer cars do these days.

relating to the gas cap. i always make sure i hear it "click" a couple of times after filling up. i felt like a idiot when i got a check engine light. went to autozone, before he hooked up the scanner he asked if i got gas lately, i respond yes. he tighten the gas cap a few clicks and light went off.

I listen for the clicks also!

Ahh, well it at least makes sense now. I've never had to have a car pass emisions, so I didn't look at it like that...

Not a problem. Glad i could clearify. Do you live in a state that doesnt require emissions? Must be nice...

I'm from Mississippi, no emisions there, lived in Vegas for a few years, always paid for my GSX to "pass" there, and now I'm in New Mexico, no emissions here either.

I guess I'll update...

EGR was taken care of, it was the vacum line.
I'm in the process of buying a Perrin O2 Sim to get rid of those 4 codes.
Then I'm going to get the tune toutched up and see what that does for me random misfire/lean bank 1 codes.

Wish me luck.
