knock maybe? i dont know any of this stuff but ive heard thats what knock sounds like. a turboback exhaust will lean out your engine and even though most evos run rich from the factory, some dont and it could be that you are running too lean and getting detonation. i dont know though im not an expert

Do you have a MBC? Installing a TBE sometimes give you higher boost, sounds like you may be hitting a boost cut. Try lowering your boost, or better yet get it tuned.

Could it be a loud DING instead of a POP? a ding could be your exhaust hitting the subframe/steering rack.

I dont think u have to install a mbc for a tbe. Is the clearance of the TBE right?, i mean it's not touching the acd and stuff. If its a pop, maybe the TBE is hittin something. Check to see if everythin is installed right and looks smooth.

The ebay tbe i heard someone had it in the forums and with that he rans low 12's with the supporting mods of mbc, flash, and etc. So its not some crappy product- hoopefully :/

The o2 sensor is that in? Cause thats the reason for the CEL usually.

It sounds like boost or fuel cut; you just need a tune.

If it was just hitting something why would there be a sudden stop in accelerator as he clearly stated in his first post, its boost cut. An MBC should be installed to adjust the boost accordingly.

Holy spelling checker Batman!!! (just had to get that out of the way).
Now does the exhaust you bought have a cat or HFC?
I would assume not. The "pop" you are hearing is most likely backfire from unburnt fuel racing out of your exhaust if you don't have a cat. You are most likely shooting out fireballs out your exhaust.

Do you have a boost gauge?
You need to check your boost to make sure you are not experiencing boost creep. That is when your boost steadily rises with your RPMs instead of going up then down. Then you would most likely be experiencing boost/fuel cut, which would account for the sudden loss in acceleration.
