3" dp with stock exhaust question

I want to run a 3" downpipe and a manual cutout with my stock exhaust. Does anyone make a 3" DP that will bolt up to my stock exhaust or will this have to be made?

Plenty of choices to bolt up to stock exhaust however.. the manual cutout i have no idea.

One such choice is helix that will bolt up to the stock units :P

where are you placing the cutout? is it a bolt on or weld-on? Are you keepin the cat or not?

You don't need any special DP. They all bolt up to the stock cat pretty much.

Ok, so you are going to buy a downpipe and cut into it...not a good idea.

Here is what you do:

1) Buy any 3" downpipe, (I happen to have a new one for sale)

2) Then, get a test pipe made with the cutout welded on and a reducer/flange to bolt to stock exhaust

3) Replace cat with above test pipe and you are set!

Best way to do it! IMHO

Are you sure you asked the right question? You're not bolting the DP to the stock "exhaust." You're bolting it to the stock cat. I know the Buschur DP bolts to the stock cat, because I did it for my emissions test. The part that doesn't work is if you try to bolt their cat-back to the stock cat, because their cat-back is a slip fit design. However, the DP is flanged, so it mates right up to the stock cat just like any aftermarket DP should.

sure, more expensive to make a DP and the angles are more important. Test pipe is a straight piece of pipe.

You don't have to worry about the cat-back - it's already there and mated to the stock cat. All you're doing is getting a DP that bolts to the stock cat, and they all should.

Is there any benefit to running a bigger DP then going down in size to the stock cat and catback?

Nope, if you used a bigger aftermarket downpipe and stock exhaust, its pretty much moot. The bottleneck still exists....
