took the words right out of my mouth. i am pretty familiar with the origins of tomei products, while they are nice, they don't nearly have the pedigree of Cosworth.

I am all for Cosworth stuff.

But Tomei built engines are just as fierce. i.e CyberEVO uses Tomei Components, and set some fast lap records at VIR recently.

Is it overpriced? yes, maybe. The parts are mediocre? think again.

Can the individual parts, i.e., the crank, rods and pistons be gotten from Cosworth or just as shortblock assemblies? I might be interested in a set of 1st o.s. Cossie pistons and rods.

Is the increase in displacement of the Cosworth 2.2 L. achieved via a stroker crank or a bore increase?

Stroker.

Yeah cosworth makes thier own crank, pistons, cams, bottom end bearings, head, valves, etc....

I would guess your talking in the 14-15k range all said and done...

So i guess no one is using this motor.

Guys, we're a Cosworth dealer and think very highly of them. We are the only shop in the country that ran a Cosworth Escort in professional racing this year both at the X Games and Maine Forest Rally.

We couldn't think more highly of Cosworth components and engineering.

With that said, insulting Tomei is totally offbase. Tomei used to maintain Mugen motors for F3000. They build motors for F2000 and F3000 currently and have worked in partnership with Nissan and Suzuki on engineering projects. They aren't a parts company. Their accomplishments are comparable to HKS and other large engine suppliers.

+1000 for the Escort Cosworth. Coming from Greece i know these cars first hand...

Personally i would choose Cosworth over any other brand any day. And the extra money worth it 100%... Just some historical info, cosworth made the engines for the Sierra and Escort Cosworths back in the 80s, and some of the variances of these engines could achieve in excess of 550bhp...in the 80s running 24hrs endurance races.... Today these engines with the new turbochargers and engine managements can exceed 800bhp...
