FYI on Mobil 1 oil....

Walmart now carries the 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 10w30 fully synthetic for $19. Add to that th $5 for a filter and you can change your oil for about $25.

I haven't found the jug at my local WalMart in a while. They had a whole aisle display of them a few months back.... but the last few times I've been in there for oil I've only founded the individual quarts or 6 packs. But that 5 qt just would be perfect for the Evo, that's just enough oil for the change!

Yeah, those Walmart oil deals are not nationwide. But it's a great deal if you find it.

How is it that the Evo needs 5qts of oil and it's a 2 liter engine and my Galant only needs 4qts and it's a 2.4 liter engine. Can someone explain it to me???

Motor displacement doesn't directly correlate to oil capacity. You can always put a larger oil pan on to increase the capacity. Adding an oil cooler will require more oil becuase it has to be filled with oil. Most high performance motors carry more oil than yolur average motor, becuase extra oil means cooler oil, becuase of additional oil volume to dissiapte the heat in and the additional oil is also protection against oil starvation under heavy g forces.

Damn you all. $380 Australian dollars for a 20 Litre (just more than 20 quarts) drum.

That makes it $19AUD per quart, or about $13USD, per quart.

hmm.... i dont think so..

good q tho.. i think buying a few extra wouldnt hurt ya tho..

you should change your oil every 3k miles anyway to really take care of your baby..

i know a lof of 1G DSM'ers with 200k+ miles on their cars that still run nice.. mainly cus they took care of them the right way!.. changing oil often is more important than some people think!

I have been using Mobil 1 in the Galant VR-4 since new. All I can say, and I have said it before here, is that the last time The Wrench replaced the timing belt he said it looked new inside. The Wrench is the number one Mitsubishi trained mechanic at my favorite dealer so he has seen many timing belt changes and the insides of many engines for that matter. I also have a Mitsubishi Diamante with 178k miles and have used Mobil 1 in the crankcase since new. I figure if you want the best engine lubricant you must use Mobil 1 and I have.

That is a great Mobil 1 price from Walmart. I picked up 10W-30 (green cap) Mobil 1 at Costco for less than $4 per quart in cases of six. My favorite Mitsubishi dealer has the filters for $5 and the crush gasket for $1.25.
