engine problem- warr, anybody?

ok, i needed to start a new thread since my other one wasn't going anywhere- probably due to the title. The problem doesn't have to do with the divertor valves at all. My car seems to be on the gas more than my foot is. What i mean is, if i accelerate hard in the gear and let off or push the clutch in, the car keeps accelerating for a few hundred rpms. If i try to shift to the next gear the rpms rise towards redline before i fully engage in the next gear. Its almost as if my timing is off with the gas and clutch-like keeping my foot a little on the gas with the gear shift causing the rpms to rise than drop down. If i drive normal it doesn't happen at all...almost like my throttle is sticking? My clutch isn't slipping at all... since i did the fifth gear test(act hdss 4 months 0 launches) and it grabbed like normal. Is this a issue with my throttle body, clutch disk(need adjusting?), gas pedal, any thing you can think of. This thing is killing me, please help

It sound slke maybe a leak at the intake manifold near the head or a leak at the throttle body....try to test by getting a spray bottle and filling it up with water. Spray a fine mist aroung the TB and the intake manifold gasket on the head and listen for engine stumble or suction sound. Try that!

I don't see how a leak at the intake manifold would be related, but maybe.

Mrdevo, it sounds like your throttle cable is sticking. At first, I thought it was just the normal slow revdown we have, but that's only in 05+ Evos, and it doesn't make the RPMs rise...they just come down more slowly. When you say "gas," do you mean accelerator? This whole time, I thought you were talking about running rich or something, but I did not read the other thread.

accelerate and when you let off, pull the gas pedal towards you. this will tell you if the throttle is sticking. It could be a bad TPS.

lol I had to quote that for the hillariousness. Do you work on your car yourself? You dont sound to mechanically inclined so why dont you just take the car somewhere to have checked out.

Ye i mean accelerator. Its like my foot is on the gas a second longer than it really is.

+1 on the bad tps or sticking throttle cable ideas.

Didn't seem that funny to me. He said to spray mist around the throttle body and see if the car stumbles or leaks. The alchy is sprayed also in the uip and makes the car stumble...was trying to see if there was a connection. Guess i missed it

Well, no, because the alky is atomized INSIDE the closed system. This guy was talking about spraying OUTSIDE the system near the TB/IM to see if anything happens.

I highly doubt that a leak at the throttle body is causing his car's RPMs to rise after lifting his foot off the accelerator. That would technically be considered a boost leak and cause a loss of power. I can't remember the last time my UICP blew off and I had a hard time getting the car to slow down

Fair enough, i was looking at it as if there was a leak the mist would get through and cause the idle to stumble

My car did this during a silly experiement when I installed a the diverter valve backwards. I would go from WOT and gradually lift full up, say, 1 sec, and car would briefly continue as if floored

It was just taking longer to dump manifold boost from being locked shut with air, even though foot and throttle was up.
