Sponsored by Buschur or not, it is good to get the whole system coated from manifold to o2 housing. Coating is not just for outright HP gains, it's for smoother/faster exhaust flow, reduced knock and therefore allowing more boost on the same octane, and lower underhood temps. Of course the non-coated one is fine, but if you're going to go through the trouble of upgrading it, might as well coat it, or get one that is already coated. In fact, mine is not coated, because I got my from Buschur right when he did his dyno testing, which was before they had any coated.
he was saying sound would be the 5th item in the serise, meaning it cant be a quaternary.. meaning if u wouldnt of said weight, sound could of been the quaternary.. if u were as smart as u think u were, ud notice he wasnt going for the fact that u spelled it wrong.. he was stateing that u used a word out of context.

Name calling is against the rules... I've not looked at the rest of the thread, but if YOU do it again you're looking at being banned for a few days! -Zeus-

Indeed the W/BR package did get my attention. It may be just what I'm looking for, as my first objective is to make an *honest* 300whp. But, as someone once said: We talk HP, but we drive torque. As a daily-driver street-car I'm primarily interested in torque, but I don't find a lot of info about torque specific mod paths.

I am very confused. however, as to why so many EVO "Stage Kits" vary so much from tuner to tuner in suggest upgrade mods. It would seem that all professional tuners are looking at the same parameters: EGT, AFR, HP, TRQ, etc., etc., so, they would all eventually draw the same conclusions with each attempting to sell the "better" mouse trap.

For example, how did you come to the conclusion that the VIII needs a fuel pump in Stage 1, but Dave Buschur concluded an VIII does not need a fuel pump until Stage 4? How can both be right? Or am I missing something here?

Can anyone recommend a high-flow 3" TBE that does give the powerful performance level I want, but is not loud? I'd like some low snarlly growling sounds, but not loudness simply for the sake of noise level.

Thanks,
Jim

The Maxford ex.manifold is what I got. It's a great power/dollar item from Gruppe-S. I would also suggest the Invidia 02 housing ($200-220, cast, support bracket) paired with the Invidia G-200 TBE.

If your looking to get parts coated I would recommend Swain-Tech.

Also just get the fuel pump now, you'll need it later.

If you only care about power, then there are certain things that you do not need. Here is what you will need:

1. TBE. Get a 3 inch TBE that fits your car. If you have an 05 keep in mind the ACD when getting the downpipe. Make sure that neither the downpipe nor the exhaust taper @ the cat. If you want a quiet exhaust, then get an exhaust with a resonator in the mid pipe. As a rule of thumb cat back exhausts with a resonator in the middle are quieter than those w/o one. I am using the Invidia cat-back and it is quiet, does not attract attention, light, and makes power.

2. MBC. You need to reduce boost taper. There are a lot of good ones that are cheap. Dejon Tool is one. Halman MBC is another. I think both of these are in the engine bay, so you cannot crank up the boost from the driver's seat.

3. Get a Walbro Fuel pump. The stock one is not adequate. You will need to tune after the fuel pump is installed.

4. An LICP is a good idea, but not really necessary. There are many good ones. AMS and Nesi (sp) come to mind. Some have even used the e-bay ones with good results.

4. Get a tune. Find a good local shop. A good local shop is priceless. This way if something goes wrong you can reach them. You can either get a flash or use a piggyback to tune. Flashing is the hottest thing right now, but I prefer a piggyback. but that is only me.

if i were you i would do the following. for the first mods i would get
1. tbe with a test pipe, i prefer ams or buschur or turboxs those are the three that i think are good
2. i would get a drop in filter
3. mbc
4. tune but i am in your boat and waiting for the accessport
4.10.5 hotside
5. o2 housing
6. licp either hpf or ams
7. fuel pump
8. bov either the jdm ix one or a forge one or something just make sure it is a diverter valve and not a vta valve.
9. cams and headstuds
10. either a bolt on turbo like the 20g or a full turbo kit with injectors and a new fmic (i like ams turbo kits and fmic)
11. built engine
and you can go on from there
plus if you are looking for things other than power get some good wheels, tires, rear swaybar is awsome then coilovers.
for exterior i would get the jdm ix rear jdm VIII tail and head lights, maybe a vortex gen, and an ix front bumper then i would call it a day and have the perfect evo imo.

Until now I had never been accused of being an environmentalist, or a woman! However, since our other-than-EVO (wife's car) is a Prius, I guess I might be considered a conservative Republican environmentalist, but I think that is an oxymoron in most red states.

A catless car will not pass emissions test in Arizona. And, what with the poor excuse for 91 oct that we share with CA, I won't be trying to squeeze the last hp out my VIII anyway. So, swapping back and forth between a TP and a cat does not really appeal to me.

I just want an extremely reliable and very conservatively tuned motor that makes as much power as the stock motor and OEM turbo can produce. What is considered to be the safe max power with the OEM turbo? And with the stock motor?

Thanks for the mod list. It looks very well thought out. Just what this n00b is looking for. Anyone have any variations on Evobeatsti's mod list? Can the mods be safely done one at a time in the order given?

Thanks,
Jim

lol i was just joking around man get the hfc if you live in cali it makes more since i just like having my friends driving behind me and calling me up telling me that my car smells like ****. i personally think its badass. anyways good luck with your decision. oh and if you do want to make max power i would get a test pipe but i have seen guys wit hfc get lots of power. definately if you want to make way good power get tbe mbc licp and cams and flash and you should be around 330 i think and if you get meth injection you will be able to crank craploads of power out of the stock turbo but i dont personally like meth because things can go wrong but its just an idea. good luck with whatever you do though, i was in your boat a few months ago and this was the list that i come up with. i hope you find everything you need
