So how bad is the chatter at idle witht the exeddy twin disk or the tilton. I have ruled out the Act stage 2. I have heard to many stories of gear lock out at high rpm. Or a lot of grinding.


so is the chatter at idle? and which one do you have in the car. And can you slip it to get a good solid launch

If you are not pushing 400+whp you will be OK with a single setup. I have used Cusco, OS Giken and ORC twin setups and super single setups. Chatter isn't that bad unless you ride the clutch a lot and the super singles have a higher pitch. I am currently running an ORC409D in my EVO IV and it replaced a OS Giken super single with the stamped steel cover. I run an OS Giken twin in my turbo ( full race T67/T3) Honda Integra. I never experinced any high rpm gear lock on my setups and this motor purrs to 9200rpm with ease.
Super single = cover, pressure ring, disk and matched flywheel
Twin = same as above with an extra disk and a separator plate.

i am tinking of trying RPS Turbo clutch. I have this in my Turbo civic for 4 yrs no issues Evolved Member

Most lockout issues can be resolved with proper adjustment.
The only times you will hear excessive noise with a twin disc is when you have the clutch pedal to the floor and when you are decelerating in gear. Other than that I would buy it if I had the money. The twin disc is a great clutch.

it doesn't chatter at idle unless the clutch pedal is to the ground like Joe's EVO8 said, it doesn't sound that loud it's not that much of a big deal. I've had tilton on my turbo honda in the past and I have a tilton hybrid for my evo but I am thinking about selling it for a carbon setup. Anyone interested? PM Me.

Those are two separate issues,lockout is an adjustment issue and you can experience that on the stock clutch along with other aftermarket units. Grinding can be either or both a transmission and/or driver issue.Originally Posted by Nitrotiger

My friend's Evo with Exedy twin SD does not chatter at idle nor when the clutch is pressed, just when decelerating and it is not so bad, almost equal to the stock clutch, no high rpm lockout.
My car is equiped with an Exedy twin Carbon and it is 100% noise free on the freeway, chatter when I press the clutch pedal and a little bit at idle. This clutch loves to shift at 7800rpm+!!!

i wish i new i need to drivein one personally
i am thinking of going with the rps max clutch. i have never had any ssues in my civic at all. This is my 1st 4wd car so clutches are new to me with this car
