Walboro 255 normal Pressure output?

Just wondering what sort of pressure a walboro should be putting out? My car is at the dealer right now trying to track down a leak and the tech felt like it might be putting out far too much pressure, he is reading it at 120 psi+!!!

I don't think the Walbro will operate at that high of a pressure, even if it could the regulator wouldn't allow it. Where is he getting his fuel pressure measurement from?

if it's still bolted in the car, it shouldn't put out any more pressure than the regulator will allow. Base fuel pressure is 43#'s plus the boost/vacuum the manifold sees. The Walbro has an internal bypass valve that opens at 85 psi. It will put up more pressure than this if you dead head it, as the bypass alone doesn't flow enough fuel to keep pressure below 85 psi. But the fuel pressure regulator and the internal bypass on the pump should be more than enough to keep fuel pressure below 120#'s,. This is at a supplied voltage of 13.5 volts to the pump.

Turbo Magazine did a good write-up on various fuel pumps (Evo stock pump being one of them) in the Apr. 04 issue. The max they tested the pumps was up to 100 psi.

If you have a 190lph walbro fuel pump the pressure start at 50psi of fuel pressure so if your running high boost it will put the pressure down the line and keep the fuel flowing.
