short shifters on evos
short shifters on evos
I search about short shifters for sometime now, but all that i found was which one to get and what not but my concern is its ability to perform...such as grinding issues and getting into gear when drag racing...any problems with short shifter with at least a 30-35% shorter shift when shifting fast into gear?...things like lockouts...not going into gear or grinding?
i want to get the agency power shifter or works but im afraid of grinding issues/getting into gear when drag racing!!!

Take my advice: Stock shifter is short enough.
I have the authority kit and its not so bad but i just miss my stock shifter because it was much smoother. I can't speak on behalf of the other kits but id stay away from authority.

I got the Agency shifter and bushings the shifter doesn't "feel" like it reduced the throw but is def. tighter and smoother now
..1 reason I got this shifter is Evodave's review for straight line driving...after he tried "other shifters"

I have the Buschur short shifter as well as his underhood bushings and the LancerShop shifter base bushings.
The throw is shortened by about 30-35% and the shifting feel is noticeably improved and much more precise.
We don't sell these products, so I'm not plugging them trying to earn any money. I'm plugging the products because they worked for me and I'm extremely happy with them.

i had a B&M adj. short shifter with the aluminum bushings in the base and the 2 piece underhood bushings. I had it on i believe 35% reduction with a razo 340 graham shift knob. It was like day and night compared to stock. Nice super smooth short, quick shifts with rifle bolt accuracy. That was on my 03 8. Trent from Buschur bought it. I wonder if he left it alone.
I like My B&M, Its definatly shorter then stock and way stiffer. At first it felt uncomfortable but now its pretty enjoyable. The only thing I have experienced once or twice is that due to the reduced throw, its easier to misstime your shift if say you are drag racing. you might pull the shifter faster then your clutchfoot. happend twice on two isolated incodents, but other then that its great.
i think its already short enough i have a friend with a wrx and he has a short throw and he drove my car the other day and he asked me if i had a short throw in my evo and i dont. he couldnt believe how short of a throw it was for stock.
it is def short enough. I took the BM from a friend who ordered it before he got an evo and then wound up with an STi. so I traded some old subaru parts for the shifter so neither would lose money. its a good part. I wouldnt have bought it other wise though Stock is great also
well right now i have the oem upgraded knob and i have the speedsource(lancershop) base bushings and buschurs trans bushings and it already feels crisp...and the stock shifter feels fine...but i would like to shorten the throw a little bit...i know works offers a 15% shorter throw but does 15% make a difference...and as far as straight line/drag racing...any lockouts or grinding issues with short throws...oh yeah...and is there more effort needed to get into gear?...let me hear what other owners with short throws have to say!!!
