I burned my clutch today...

Well not for good but i was trying to launch at 4k rpm's and my revs shot up to 7k with the car at a near stop. I shifted really quick into 2nd and 3rd and it did the same thing on those gears till I let the engine rev itself down and was able to get moving in 2nd gear.

My questions is this, is my clutch goin bad or is it normal for stock evo's with stock clutches. All the mods i have are front powerflex motor mount, greddy ti catback and metal shifter bushings with 33k miles on the car. And I've never raced the car.

I've also heard that removing the restrictor pill from the stock clutch line will give my clutch a little more grip. Any other recommendations/suggestions?

You slipped the clutch way too long and heated it up. When the stock clutch heats up, it slips. Therefore, you were slipping from 1 to 2 to 3rd. It is one of the worst things you can do to your clutch. Let it cool back down, and hopefully you didnt kill it too bad. Removing the restrictor will make the car grab faster, however if you cannot launch with in it I would not take it out. I am still on stock clutch and lauch at 6K with a quick slip. Just keep trying, youll get it right.

It's normal when someone who doesn't know how to launch tries his luck.

It'll make the engagement more positive.
