Took my car to mitsu to fix my grind...

so i took my car to the mitsu dealer a day or 2 ago to get my grinding problem in 5th fixed.. so they replaced my synchrone and what not, then he tells me my clutch and flywheel are getting pretty bad and i should replace it while its still open.. so he was telling me to replace it with oem clutch and flywheel and 100 labor charge for 800 or so it was.. then i was thinking for that price i can get an after-market clutch and flywheel that will be a little better and hold some more power as i start modding it.. so that down the road when i get it to where i want it to be i can just replace the clutch with something nicer.. so i just wanted to hear some of your opinions on some clutch and flywheel combos that you guys had experience with that are in the 7-800 dollar neighborhood.. any suggestions guys? thankss...

From what the other million thread on this state, the ACT HDSS is the best for that price range. Seach and you will find a ton of info on this. FYI, I wouldn't have Mits install it, even if it was free.

I agree with Lancematic, DO NOT have Mitsu install it. I went through the same thing. They fixed my 5th gear so at the time I figured why not put a new clutch in (went with the ACT at the time, great clutch for the price) they told me "oh yeah no problem if you put an aftermarket clutch in" well the grind came back a few thousand miles later and they said it was probably because of the clutch. I can almost guarantee you if you go that route, you will get screwed if you have tranny probs and try to get it covered in the future, just my .02 cents.

Yeah mitsu likes to blame everything on any aftermarket part you have. You could take it in for a fading spoiler and they'd be like, "Oh yeah it's definitely your aftermarket diverter valve." lol

I'm running with a stage 2 competition clutch. It's been good to me. The break-in period was horrible, but now it's pretty smooth.

Was your car modded at all? How many miles and such. You should be grateful that they hooked you up with new sychros.
