Question Boost controller problems...HELP...

Sup guys. I installed a Blitz Type S Boost controller today I have it set too 30. (0 being stock and 100 being full turbo capabilities). Anyways, at about 4000 to 5000 rpm it seems as if the turbo dies or there is something holding it back. Is this normal or do I have the controller hooked up wrong???? Vacuum problems??? Please help...

Lots of things could be wrong. There's usually a lot more to tuning an EBC than just setting one parameter. Did you set the gain and everything properly, or does this one only have one setting? It could be the installation or setup - we need more info, especially in relation to exactly what happens. Is it 4k rpm or 5k rpm? What gear is it? What happens before 4k? What happens at 7k?

Thanks for the relpy. Around 5000 rpms it seems to drag. I have not taken it to 7k yet because when i feel the drag or loss of turbo boost i let off, not wanting to blow up anything. Yes the gain is set to 10 which is specifies for the 4g63. The set up is on the syloniod is IN comes from the pressure the turbo puts out and the OUT goes to the wastegate/ac the bleed is left open. I have not done an ecu flash yet. However i do have a 3" turbo back and a 3" intake. Thanks for your help and insite. Warrtalon......

Just switch it out for a MBC and be done with it, sorry if you waisted money on a EBC, but seriously a EBC is not needed at all and doesn't do the job better than a less expensive MBC. But if still just have to stick with it, then perhaps I would just take it to a professional that really knows what he or she is doing, get tuned while your there also.

Same thing I was thinking - just didn't want to stir up more trouble.

Sending the ECU to Buschur? Do you mean to Dynoflash? Regardless, that has nothing to do with your boost control. You'd be having 0 problems with an MBC, and it costs a lot less.

You say that you "feel" a problem ... do you not have a boost guage? Do Evo's have a "limp" mode that the ECU reverts to if it sees overboost?

There is a limp mode, but it's not caused by overboosting. Overboosting, which would mean hitting fuel cut, triggers a code after you do it a few times. Limp mode is caused by more catastrophic events.

thats why im asking what psi its going to, since he is untuned and unless he is running stock boost, it could be boost cut or fuel cut or could be pulling timing.

Yeah, it seems that way to me as well ... I was just trying to relate it to VW's which revert to wastegate boost when the ECU sees overboost. Overboost on VW's is determined by the MAP sensor reading going beyond a set value ... I wasn't sure if it was the same on the Evo.

it sounds more like its pulling timing from his explanation. boost cut is really noticeable and feels like a jerk. also might feel slow because he isnt boosting enough that why im asking what psi 30 takes his car too.

Highly unlikely it's just pulling timing - he says the turbo basically stops. It has to be a poor instlall, improper setup, or fuel cut from too much boost, but his description doesn't sound like fuel cut, which is like hitting a brick wall.
