Dead After 3rd Gear...????..

i no the EVO is the sickest then on wheels when leaving from a stand still, but afther 3rd gear it feels like the speed dies off. Will a ReFlash or Cams or both improve this dead feeling up top.. I have the normal boltons now and im soon to be getting my upgraded feul pump. i not going to be upgradeing the turbo and i dont want to aggressive of a Cam lift that will kill the already poor gas milelage the car has. What will be a good Cam set to get??.. any imfo would be helpful..

tuning is the best upgrade for the evo...

parts and tuning is taking it one step further.... after you get it tuned the car will wake up and itll make as much power as your current mods have produced, if not more

fuel pump is also needed for your car be4 you tune importimage = 76$

cams with give ya more top end or mid range depending what set you go with.

cheers!

+1^ I agree.. A tune would do a evo good. In my opinion I would say getting a reflash would be the best bang for the buck.

Cams wise if you just want nice top end without losing too much low end power I would go with GSC 272 cams. I have work 269 cams but am replacing these cams with GSC 272's in February. Other upgrades could be a 10.5 ported hotside, FMIC (argumentive),
02 housing, intake, or stock setup...is fine too.... I've been told 264/272 combo works well too...

Cams wont make any noticeable effect on your mpg. As far as saving money, Id recommend being patient and watching the classifieds for a used set of hks cams. I picked up a set of 264/272 for $325 shipped, awesome upgrade for the money.

But in general, getting a proper tune will help with the dying in 3rd gear. Get a fuel pump, do an intake pressure test, and then tune it.
