The surge occurs when I build boost rapidly starting from below 3000rpm. The car hits 28psi rapidly and then surges up till I hit 4000rpm (approx) then it clears.
If I start accelerating hard from 3100rpm or above, I don't seem to have any surging.
Does this clear up the questions?
btw the bov is an MR bov.

How are you controling boost?? If your using a EBC or the ECU (if he has the duel solenoid boost control, he could possibly run that much boost), you could possibly tune the boost too make it not run so much at that low of RPM.

Interesting you brought that up. I also noticed you have a GReddy Type-S. I have a Type-RS myself and would like to hear your thoughts on the best way to 'tune' the tightness of the GReddy (or any aftermarket) BOV

I had the same problem as you when I switched to the HKS SSQ bov. Everytime I would let off the gas a little the car would start to hesitate and I couldn't really build any boost until I let off the gas completely and then started going again. Switched back to my APS bov and everything worked fine....

Until I started putting race gas in and raised the boost to 24-25 psi. After a while the same problem started happening again. It wasn't until I swapped out my stock turbo with a TME and found out how much shaft play had developed in the stocker from running the high boost all the time. Since the swap I've had no hesitation problems.
