So i just finished installing my 02housing and everything sounds good except for an exhaust leak which is fixable. While I test drove it, I heard some weird whining noise coming from under the hood, so i go back to the garage. I pop the hood open and manually press the throttle with my finger and I hear it coming from my intake (hks rs) after I release. It sounds like some metal is slightly grinding from the turbo. Anybody know what went wrong?

Could be that your wastegate flapper is loose in the hotside of the turbo and is slapping around some or You left a bolt somewhere inside the hotside or O2 housing that just fubarded your turbo.

 

i put the pin back into the hotside flapper so that its locked,

 

before i found the problem, the car boosted fine. i ran 22 psi like normal, but wont do it again till it's fixed

can you describe the sound??? is it like a metal-on-metal scraping/grinding or is it more of a whistling sound


if it sounds like metal-on-metal you might of dropped some kind of foreign object into the turboor intake and f-d up your turbo, honestly its hard to say w/ out further description

 

please keep us posted on this.... i just got my O2 housing and im installing it the weekend. Dont want to do whatever it is you did. good luck
