alternator / battery question....

ill try to make this story/question as short as possible

so my battery/brake light both came on.

next day when im looking for parking at the mall i work at, my volts start to go down, radio pops out my cd, **** starts to dim. find a parking asap. car died. when i pulled into the parking spot.

when i get off work, i get my friend manny to bring me his extra battery(he has the mini kit) so he brings it, we swap it and then it starts and everything, but when i pull out of the parking garage, the volts go down to 11.5-12.00 so im like oh man i think its the alternator now... today i go to start it up (3 days later) and its still just chillin at 11.5-12.00

now question ISSSS.

ive searched a lot and read a lot of threads, pm'd a lot of people, so i was wondering, they say that 90% of people having the brake/battery light come on is because bolt are either loose or fell out hoding the alternator? and a lot of people said that the fuse blew?

i was thinking about trying to make it tomorrow to autozone to see if they can test out the alternator or whatever...

just wanted to get some imput from you guys...

THANKS in advance

You can test the alternator yourself since you have a voltmeter.

Just start the car if it reaches 13.8-14.8volts your good below that and likely your alts not working right. you can test the voltage straight at the battery leads.

yea budy your alternator is out.

I replaced the mini batt on my car 2 times it worked fine for a few days then it just takes all the juice away from the batt and ends up killing it.

The main reason they go out is because of the bolts come lose and the vibration just gets to it after a while.

Now only get a OEM unit becasue the ones they clam fit dont beleave me i tried it. The pully is the worng size and the top bolt mount is shorter then stock.

A OEM unit will run you $250 plus tax so around $260-280 if you call you local dealer they can have it the next day.

Plus i did tell you how to replace it on your pm. As far as the bolt go you got to buy locktie (red) if i spelled that right they wont come lose anymore.
