questions about the stock rs/mr gauge set

I'm going to be removing these gauges (volts/oil temp/boost) and I had a few questions.

I have not taken anything apart yet to get a good look.

1. Where are the gauges tapped into for power?

2. Are they spliced or is it plug and play?

3. Considering I'm not going to be draining my oil right away and the sensor is through the drain plug what is the best thing to do with the sending wire? (I'm assuming just zip tie it up for now until my next oil change?)

4. Is the boost tube ran through the passenger side firewall grommet?

5. Anything I should know ahead of time?

In case anyone is wondering I'm going to be running a completely different set of gauges and don't need seven gauges and I need a place for the radio.

Thanks!

Not sure, I believe it's tapped to the dimmer, but I never bothered to trace them back.

What do you mean by that?

Sure, zip tie it, or just fork out $8 for a new drain plug, or find someone that wants the whole setup and trade.

4. Is the boost tube ran through the passenger side firewall grommet?

Yes

5. Anything I should know ahead of time?

Make sure you have something to fill up the hole Don't leave the boost source disconnected either, put another gauge in or else put a screw in it. It's routed into the fpr.

I believe the dimmer is attached to the, well...dimmer. The volt gauge is tapped into the 12v lead of the factory head unit. (really! couldn't believe it myself) Do just what you said with the oil temp wires. and Yes the boost gauge is ran thru the psgr. side rubber grommet. You may have to remove the psgr. side wheel, and plastic wheel well trim. The vacuum/boost line is run thru there and may be zip tied to the other wires in there.

*I don't know if I would remove the boost hose personally. If you change your mind later on just hook it back up. You could always plug it with a golf tee and zip tie in place.
