Stock BOV outside the intake?

I have a IX, and wonder if it is possible to take the BOV out of the intake and mount it somewhere in the enginebay so you can hear it much more then when it is in the intake.

Or is that not recomended?

If it is no problem, should i just close the hole with something where the BOV was in? Not some toilet paper or so because then i have the chance it gets chopped up by the turbo

Grtz

Isn't the stock BOV recirc anyway so it isn't going to be all that loud wherever you put it. Please wikipedia BOV though so you can understand what it does not just the noise

you will hear it a little more, but its designed to be quite so you can only expect so much from it. if your really after the sound then get an aftermarket BOV of your choice, you could even vent it back to intake and you would still hear it clearly as a pose to stock diverter valve to intake.

1. Search the infinite number of other threads on BOV's

2. Please try to understand more about the parts on your car, what they do, and why they are the way they are before screwing around with them. This doesn't just apply to BOV's.

3. Do not mess with the BOV to make it louder (ie, by making it vent to atmosphere). The car runs terrible, and if you dont plug the hole in the intake, the car will most likely not run at all, not to mention be sucking up all kinds of dirt and crap.

If you get a decent intake for the car, you will hear the DV much better, that is, if total rice is your thing.

I've done one test where I plug up the hole on the intake, then turn the stock BOV to have to VTA. It acted hella funny. Whenever I bring the boost over 0.5bar, the bov will just leak completely and the car have no power.
I'm not sure what the cause is but the stock BOV will not function correctly when you make it BOV :P
