Bottom line pump gas the 35R isn't going to have any benefits except lag LOL, once you turn up the boost and get the turbo in its efficiency range on race gas will you really start to see what happens. I drive my car daily pump gas 35R the lag is there but I have learned to deal with it. Like someone said in this thread you have to learn to anticipate when you will need your turbo…. I have come across 2 times that I turned out into traffic, a slight stop then a right turn in 2nd gear because I was too lazy to shift. I just chant common turbo common….. it comes around but there is a pause. Driving style must be altered and you must keep the revs up above 4K. I’m not saying that everyday is a race to work and school but if you need to get out of the way you better know what gear to be in and when to be in it. That is my 35R buyer’s guide. If the car will never see race gas or meth then go with something smaller.

SO your saying that if u don intend to use race gas then dont buy a GT35R but ppl have some great numbers on pump gas with built motor..

That would also be a waste IMHO. Here's why.... The 3076 has yet to prove it is better then a 50Trim on pump or race gas. The .82 A/R housing is a poor match for the 2.0 while being efficient, it would add even more lag and less throttle response and simply make you engine peakier.

As far as a STOCK bottom end is concerned, here are you choices IMHO.

Ball Bearing 50Trim, .63 back side. This turbo has time and TIME again proven to be a 420-450WHP pump gas monster of a turbo. Race gas will max you at 500WHP, well within the stock block limits at about 28PSI. The 3076R while it looks AWESOME on paper simply has not performed as such and has only dissapointed people over the 50Trim. Even the crappy NON BB 50 Trim kit from RNR which cam with a crapier NON-equal-length header made 420WHP with a UTEC, that turbo is King SHIT in the DSM/Evo World.

Next up, Ball Bearing GT35R with a .63 housing. Stick with the .63 housing if you want it to spool this week. A turbo this big would basically put your Evo's characterisics upsidedown, no torque, then massive topend. It is an Extrememly efficient turbo, yet won't be fully spooled till past 4500RPM's. It'll make great Pump gas numbers and KILL on Race Gas, you might miss the torque and you will always have to shift down to get it's power.

As for me I would choose the 50Trim, I want one on my IX, I bet it would spool fast and once cams are proven, probably close to a 500WHP PUMP GAS (Remember, 450 on pump for the VIII's) and will give massive torque with ALKY and will run perfectly

How much you want to bet my .63 35R will spool up as fast or faster than your .82 30R

Dave I have to agree with you. People just don't seem to understand that a huge turbo with low boost due to a stock block is a waste. This was the reason for the big boom in 16G's, 20G's, and 50 trims in the DSM world. It was the best of both worlds. Good spool between 3k and 4k, good CFM flow, and 20-25 psi was never a problem.

To me there is a balance where HP and powerband comes together to make great useable power, but with a 35R the HP is not much more than a 50-trim and the power band is just to small for the stock block to become efficent.

The ATP Unit is really not that good, it has been proven multiple times that the exhaust housing hurts spoolup and limits top end power. I also don't trust dyno numbers especially since the other thread involving a 400+ WHP and 113MPH so you can't go by that.

I have yet to see a GT3076R beat a 50Trim at the track as well, I stand by my statement.

I drove an EVO9 with GT3076 on methanol with the stock cams at 26psi and to be honest, I was pretty impressed with the top end power. It made 450whp at that boost level. I think with the new EVO9 Cosworth cams going in and 4psi more, it will make some silly power. Either way, you cant go wrong with a 50trim but then again, I havent been THAT impressed with their track times either.

If you think you're going to hit 500whp on pump gas you need to put the pipe down now! Theres no way you'll make more than 440-450whp on pump, more realistically 420whp on a concervative tune boosting around 23psi. Run 28-30psi with 100% meth and you'll hit 500whp. If you put a bb50trim on a IX I doubt it would make more power than an VIII with a similar set up but it will spool a lot quicker with MIVEC tuning (23psi @ about 3500rpms) and it will definitely be torquier
