Smile Motor/Tranny Mounts....Revisited

So i've read virtually every post on mounts for the Evo that i could find in these forums.

Agency Power makes some really nice ones that you don't have to press which is really nice. There there are a lot of companies that make some that you DO have to press.

My discussion is relating to why only replace the Front Motor mount as many sites offer for sale?
Shouldn't all mounts be replaced to get the full benefit?
Wouldn't replacing one only put additional stress on the remaining weaker ones?

Does anyone else make a full setup for motor and transmission as well?

Any additional info please post up...

Thanks!

Concerning the Powerflex motor bushings which we distribute, only a few people have gone so far as to upgrade the side mounts as well as the front, and even fewer have done all four mounts, but everyone that has done more than just the front alone have not had any problems.

So far, every install of the front and the two sides results in LESS additional vibration into the cabin than the front alone.

The install of all four mounts results in a small increase in vibration into the cabin above the front alone, but nothing too obtrusive or uncomfortable and only felt at idle.

I would imagine most people only upgrade the front because it's the easiest to do, it's a pretty cost-effective modification, and the improvement is enough for most people who daily drive their cars. Very few people really drive their cars hard enough or have enough power to require the use of all 4 mounts. They're readily available should they be needed, however.

So basically your recommendation is to replace the sides as well as the front?

How bout the transmission mounts? Any input on those and where to get them? I would think they could only improve shifting by connecting the engine and tranny even more than stock.

If you want to upgrade the front AND side motor mounts, that's entirely up to you. It will limit engine movement a little better while actually decreasing vibration, however.

Concerning transmission "mounts", the only transmission "mount" is one of the side "motor mounts". The are no "mounts" connecting the motor and tranny.

If you're refering to transmission shift linkage bushings, those are completely different, but also a worthwhile upgrade.

Awesome info mike....thank's for being so informative.

As for the shift linkage bushings i believe i ordered the ones you are speaking of.

They are small round things which connect in the engine bay? I ordered the brass ones.

Avid makes a full kit, including the tranny mount. 4 pieces; front, two sides and tranny.
