Consumers be weary of misleading information.

Don't be fooled by marketing efforts for you to believe that aftermarket parts are "engineered" for your vehicle. Manufacturers will use "engineering" terms and words to make you feel as if much time and effort has gone into the "development" of your high performance parts. When in fact i'd bet that more than 90% of the industry operates on a "monkey see- monkey do" policy.

My point? Demand more of the companies claiming more flow...and engineered performance. Ask for flow bench analysis...CFD anaysis....actual flow numbers... back to back "scientific" dyno test results. I see too many unfounded claims and MSpaint diagrams spouting off about "simple physics" when the poster has no business selling a part...let alone designing or manufacturing a part.

I put it on YOU the consumer to ask more of the aftermarket part manufacturers.

OMG.....sorry this is off topic but I am truly upset to know Earl Laskey passed away. He built my old Honda block

Sad day indeed.......

Back on topic....of course our industry is totally based on "monkey see, monkey do" Everyone copies everyone. Companies will always copy each other to try and get some of the profit share.
Every once in a while a part comes out based on another part and its better. Its the progression that we go through, whether it be technological advances or trial and error, a new product will come out that will be better than the last.

in addition to that, lets say some big named vendor had a product for a car that cost 700 dollars for customers, but only cost them 300 dollars to make. thats a large profit. now lets also say this said product has no competition on the market... that product will be left alone, and never improved (said company is doing great, why change?). it takes the bargain basement types to copy the already proven products to push the innovative types to push the limits and develop better products, that or reduce the prices to remain competitive. certainly customer service makes some difference, but for many it doesn't (look at all the hotlines based out of india... i can't understand a word they say. thats poor customer service but obviously they are making money doing it that way).

for many products, such as intercooler cores, there are not many manufacturers. i also find it highly unlikely that there is much difference between X bar and plate cooler to Y bar and plate cooler. if a company is so proud of a product that they can say with 100% certain that it is better then all the others, then tell us who your core supplier is (and where they make it), what material you use for the end tanks, where it is welded, and who did the pressure test on it. (other specs such as total pressure drop, flow rates, energy transfer rates, effective surface area, wall thickness, etc. would help) i bet even the best name brand coolers contain parts made in china. obvious thats never gonna happen because it is a trade secret and anyone could then copy the product identically... but that happens anyway. additionally if we found that AMS or buschur had made in china cores, we would then have a problem as they would be in the same boat as the china ebay products they so easily trash.

it was meant as a generic statement...there was no alterior motive. Im not trying to bash on india part manufacturers or anyone in particular.

this is just coming from my experience in fabricating, selling, and basic observation of the aftermarket part industry.
